Description
Hot Looks was a series of dolls that were employees of the Hot Looks Modeling Agency. Each doll had a preference to what colors she liked to wear, and there were many clothes and accessories in corresponding hues that one could buy for them.

This is an actual Hot Looks doll from when I was 12. It's hard to believe that three decades later I still have the Hot Looks doll that my mother gave me for christmas that year. However these are not Chelsea's original clothes. I have them somewhere but I don't know where I put them.

My sister and I have all the original dolls and outfits. I remeber getting newer outfits where the earring didn't work in the original dolls and my mom called to find out why. We were told that they were going to come out with new dolls, but I had never seen them before.

I just started re-collecting these about a year ago. I hadnt even heard of the other dolls until I found Kaylee's website. The quest was on to find them and after looking for about 2 months I found the second release dolls being sold in Canada and thats where I learned the whole story. The second release came out in 1988 only in Canada as a test run because the dolls never got as popular as was expected here in the US. After slow sales in Canada they pulled it all. So now the second release are very few and far between and the outfits are even fewer. I have 2 of the second release outfits MIB and all of the first with all the totes MIB with every doll in both releases MIB. I dont know if Ill ever find the rest of the outfits i need to finish it but after finding the rarest doll, Shawna, Im not that worried about it. She truely is a rare doll. There were no known pictures of her until I won the other three and saw her on the back of the boxes. I thought Id never come across her but a few weeks ago some girl listed her on ebay under the wrong title and I just happen to be looking that day. I couldnt believe what I was looking at! So Im very happy with this collection and starting to focus on all my other collections. I also collect Barbies (pink box), Barbie dream house (house, pool, cottage, furniture), Cabbage Patch kids, Strawberry shortcake and My Little Pony. If anyone has any tips on any of these items Id be very greatful. Or if anyone is interested in selling some of their collections from the named above I would be very interested. Thank you!

My 4-year old daughter loves to play with them almost as much as I still do! =) Now I'm anxious to collect the other three dolls that is on my old broshure. I love these dolls. I can't believe Mattel stopped making them.

Yes there were more of these dolls. Sachi from Japan, Steff from Australia, Shawna from Scotland, and Star, I forget where she's from.

I had a Hot Looks doll, but I'm not sure which it was. She was definately one of the Japanese girls from the Canadian run. She had red overalls with a comic strip patterned shirt. Was it Stacy? I liked to think that her yellow bra and panties were actually a bikini.

I had a few of these dolls. I thought they were pretty and wore cool clothes. I don't recall remembering that they were from different countries I guess I overlooked that

Oh my goodness, I completely forgot I had one of these! She had light brown hair and pastel pink lingerie, and she always looked hobbled because of her bendy legs. I think she was from Australia. I remember she had cool shoes and earrings her hair used to get stuck on.

I just realized I have Shawna!!! Wow, what a find in my piles of stuff. She's clean and fully dressed, a few light spots on the shoes, but nothing major. All her jewelry and everything is in tact. I could make a good sale off of her now that I won 2.

I worked on this doll line at Mattel in the '80s. The original concept was based on the Color Me Beautiful book of how to chose what colors look most flattering with one's personal "season" skin and hair color. There was a hexagon shaped case filled with accessories made to go with this line.

I have been collecting Hot Looks since they were in the stores although I've had down periods where I didn't search as hard. I now have an almost complete collection, I just need a few of the second year doll accessories! I'm also trying to catalog everything I can - photos of F/B of boxes, promotional material etc. Please anyone who is a dedicated collector like me, contact me! akireefaerie at gmail dot com Thanks!
