Description
Plush baby dolls with curly sprouts of brightly colored hair, with hands that clasped together in a "hug." They were completely soft, with no plastic, and many believed them to be quite ugly. The dolls had their cartoon movie.

These were so cool! One day when I was at school(around age 6), I had fallen down on the playground and scraped my face. My mom picked me up from school and had a Hugga Bunch doll for me! I felt much better. :) It was the purple haired one.

Dude everyone thought I was crazy also, I knew these things exisited! Although the movie if I recall was a live action one with puppets as hugga bunch people and this little girl gets sucked into hugga world or something. I remember a red hat and poison oranges or something... anyone?

I had "tickles" the red headed one, Cause I have red hair, I have to find the picture of me sleeping in the backseat of our van on a road trip clutching that darned thing. I was totally obsessed, even Burger King gave away little clamp versions of them.

I also had a doll, and I know way too much about this movie b/c I watched it all the time! The little girl didn't want her grandma to go to the nursing home, so she went into Hugga Bunch land or whatever through her bedroom mirror to get these youthful red fruits or something. When she finally got back to her room, somehow she dropped the fruit on her bedroom carpet and they dissolved or something so it was sad...etc, etc. Don't ask how I remember that. Maybe it's a little twisted around, b/c you know how your imagination is so much different as a kid. I always thought the fruit was like strawberries or like those little roma tomatoes. Weird!

Back in the early 90s, I bought a Hugga Bunch baby, I believe it was Huggins, at Value Village. I don't have it anymore though. I believe my cousin had one though, who is now 36.

Yes, I too had one. I can't remember the name of mine, but I had the dark haired one with curly hair, because I was dark with curly hair. The amazing thing about this doll is that none of my peers ever heard of this. I loved my Hugga Bunch!

a friend of mine had these dolls on a shelf in her bedroom. i slept over one night, and could not sleep because i fear the dolls would come to life and kill me. seeing their picture 20-something years later, i am still horrified.

I had the pink one. I wanted it so badly for Christmas one year, and my grandmother got it for me. I loved it so much, and I do remember seeing the movie, it was creepy in a way, but I still loved my doll.

I have the movie, remember when the one hugga bunch doll gets put in the washing machine by the girls mother. Or, the book worm, or when the gravity changes and they fall down, or when the scary elephant changes into a cartoon like elephant. My sister and I used to pretend we were eating "young berries" when we ate radishes.LOL Watch it on youtube, it will bring back lots of memories.

I remember a movie from my childhood where a real girl walks through a mirror and charachers on a bridge. When I saw this it suddenly came rushing back to me. I started watching the movie on you tube and my childhood came rushing back to me.

I found a burnt DVD copy of this movie a couple of years ago on Ebay. It is silly and old, but I like having it. My son watches it on occasion. My aunt and I both got the pink haired and purple haired dolls when I was about 3 or 4. Somewhere around here I still have them.
