Description
Same as concept as today's skip it.... A black ring (that went around your ankle) was connected to a black piece of plastic tubing, and at the end of the tubing was a yellow lemon. And you twisted the tube/lemon around and skipped over it.

Mine had a strawberry instead. Was it name the same? I don't think so.

I had one of these. It hung on a nail in the garage. I didn't know anybody that was coordinated enough to actually use it the right way. When we did play with it, it usually ended up as a weapon of some sort. It was always getting launched at somebody's head!

I had one lemon thing like this! I was not bad at it, or...so I thought! I loved playing with it. I actually think this is the type of toy that kids needs nowadays!!!

My FAVORITE toy...I skipped this thing every day for an entire summer. I'd love to find one!

I loved this toy when I was about eight or nine. I can't find any listings whatsoever on ebay for this. It must be pretty rare these days, unfortunately. Why does it seem that they don't make toys like they used to back in the 70s and 80s?

I absolutely loved my lemon twister. I used it so much that I wore it out and my mom had to get me a new one. However, I had mine in the mid- 70's, not 80's like this website said.

No, you don't remember wrong!!! I never had one, but remember them well. Maybe there were some that didn't have a counter, but I remember a commercial that showed them with a counter.

I loved mone, too- I'd love to have another, and would buy one for my 3 kids & their friends, too. They worked perfectly. Other plastic varieties are too hard and hurt my ankles

This was my favorite toy EVER! I went through about 3 of them. I kept leaving them in the driveway and my Dad would run over them with the truck. Mine was in the 70's too though. Wish I had one now! I'd still play with it!

That is bizarre my daughter and her friend got something similar this past Halloween at Dairy Queen here in Texas it reminded me of the lemon twister, but my daughters was made cheaply I wish they still sold these because it was alot of fun to jump and yes I was born in 1968 and I remember these very well, these were like the trendy back then, where phones and Ipods have taken that place. I Wish we as parents could have something like this come out instead of $300-up phones or Wii's. My 9 yr old daughter and her friend wanted me to look into finding an old one. This was really good for keeping the kids active and they get very good exercise.

Loved it..loved it...loved it! We used to have contests at school to see who could get the highest. I could do the lemon twist for hours on end. Brings back great memories. One of the best outdoor toys ever!

I can remember playing with mine for hours. My daughter has something similar now. It's called a skip-it. They are pretty much the same but it's not a lemon on the end, just a round piece.

The lemon twister. I am so very much searching for it. I tell my daughters about it quite often. This is one of my all time favorite toys and childhood memories. I want it to be the same for my daughters.

I had the same thing, except my lemon was actually a strawberry. What's up with the strawberry version? Mine would have been awsome but... it was given to me at Xmas in place of the pink skip-it I'd asked for... Admittedly, doesn't measure up... and it felt like a cop out since I wanted the skip-it for the counter on it and I already had a knock-off version of the lemon-strawberry abomination. Likewise, it had been the only thing I had really wanted that Xmas and had expressed as much. Why Mom & Dad, WHY no pink skip-it?!

i googled "lemon skip toy" and found this link. my god. this toy was a huge fad at my school when i was, guessing, in 5th or 6th grade? so that'd be around '77 or '78. girls AND boys were into it. it was an absurdly fun toy...
