I used to love those dolls. My lil miss make up was white and lil miss dress up was black and I told people they were twins and at my age of 25, I still have them both. I have a four year old daughter who I think I'll give them to.

Wow, I haven't thought of this doll in ages! I named my lil miss make up Missy. I remember she sat on the bottom of my toy shelf, and when it was cold in the winter, all of her make up would appear without me having to use the sponge wand at all.

I had a little miss makeup doll. She got to go with me when I got my tonsils taken out. Two months later I left her in the car overnight, and her makeup stayed on permanently!

Got two from my best friend when I was about 8. They got a triplet sister when I was a bit older. And now there's a fourth. I still have them and display them sometimes, even though I'm in my twenties. They are the story of my childhood.

I just found my Lil Miss Mermaid. I have a picture of myself when I was 5 carrying this doll everywhere I went. I am excited, because I have a 1 year old daughter that I can pass this on to. It still works and is in awesome condition.

You can get this doll on ebay. They are very resonable. I bought one for my daughter back in the early 90's and when she got married she sold it in a yard sale for .50 cents. The next day she called me and told me that she was happy that the little girl who bought it was so happy but at the same time she wanted to kick herself for letting it go. Now she has two daughters and I bought each of them a doll off ebay. Happy Endings

A lot of people do not know the name of the doll when they sell it on e-bay, so it's hard to find her there. Gotta get creative using different search words. I found them in Salvation Army. Usually they are in good conditions there, just need some clean-up.

I got this for Christmas when I was 8 (in 86). My big brother and I sneakily opened all our presents way before Christmas w/o our parents knowing and I could hardly stand to wait till I could open LMM for real on Christmas and play with her!!! Check this out...it took me back!!!! retrojunk.com/details_commercial/1621/

I wanted that doll so bad, my daddy told me and his girlfriend's daughter to put it on our Christmas letter to Santa Claus. Soon as Christmas rolled around he got the doll for her but didn't get one for me. 21 years later I still hadn't got over it.

I had Lil Miss Make-up & Dress-up... their outfits were different then the ones shown here.. I had the exact ones from the commercials... which you can see on You Tube... Probably one of my favorite dolls!! It's probably why I love make-up and clothes now!! LOL!!

Actually, isn't the mermaid pictured My Singing Mermaid? I coulda sworn I had that exact doll and she sings when you squeeze her, which as strong as her body is was hard to do. I can still remember the six note tune too.
Marianne - April 29, 2009 - Report this comment
yeah i had the same doll that when you squeezed her back she would sing that same tune, i also thought it was a good idea to bring her to church and make her sing, the priest had a good laugh

I actually found this doll in Big Lots a few years back. I bought her again!!! i was so surprised to see her in the box sitting on that shelf. I used to talk about her all the time, even into my later teen years.

I had Little Miss Mermaid and I LOVED her. Then, I lost her for a long time...I whined and cried until my parents got me another one. Well soon after I found my original so I ended up with 2 Little Miss Mermaids. I saw her in my gramma's garage not that long ago...she looked messed up though, her hair was nappy and you can tell she'd been through a lot. LOL.
