Description
Tiny toy people that were basically a plastic cylinder with a tiny, very round head with a VERY simple face painted on it. They had no arms, legs, hands, or feet. There was different races of people, people wearing different colored clothes (basically different colored cylinders), etc. They had all sorts of collectible homes, pools, cars, furniture, etc. They came in different families- such as Mothers, Fathers, younger brothers/ sisters, babies (which I could never seem to tell whether they were boys or girls), dogs/cats (which also stood upright like the people), etc. They eventually had to change the size and shape of the tiny people because small children began choking on them.

OH MY GOD!!! I had so many of these things. They were made by Fisher Price. I think I still have some at my Mommas house. I had a play house for them which came with a merry go round, I had a tree house for them, and even a ferris wheel! I had a complete set which was Sesame Street themed and came with the "main building" it had Gordon and may other characters including Big Bird who came complete with his bird nest. The building had opening doors, and a slide which your characters could slide on. I LOVED THESE AND STILL DO.

I had tons of these too. I had the boat and the captain. My brother had the airport. We still have almost all of ours. The originals were wooden.

Awesome. My older brother had all these, but I got to play with them after he outgrew them. We still have a bunch, including a big main street playset, where it opens up into two rows of buildings with room for a road down the middle. There was a fire station, barber shop, etc, with apartments on the second story. Very cool.

I loved this toy! We had Peoples at our house since before I was born (77), there are still some floating around my parents' house.

I still have the Little People cars and the interactive Little People car garage with a cranking car lift! I would use this garage for my Hot Wheels cars too!

I had the bus and the school. Good times.

These were the BEST toys, weren't they? My sister and cousin passed theirs down to me and my mom bought me some of my own playsets. This is a toy that could entertain you for hours. :)
Thomas Dickensheets - September 05, 2007 - Report this comment
I don't like they put arms on them. I had the old ones. They where wood or plastic.

I had a Little People farm and when you opened the barn doors, you heard a "moo" sound. The farm also came with a silo and a tractor.
Alana - October 12, 2007 - Report this comment
Yay, Little People!!! I had the Little People farm, schoolhouse, family house, and van! I remember my little brother used to tote around these three Little People everywhere he went. He named them Crunch, Vance, and Pole.

When I graduated from nursery school, that summer I played "graduation" with my little people. For a stage I would use a book or I would build a stage with my blocks. I would act out the graduation program with them. Since I could not get enough of the graduation video that my parents had bought me, I knew the program by heart.

My brother and I have the farm, house, ferris wheel and car that pulled a trailer with a boat. Then my mom lent them all to my friends little brother and he stole half of my favorite pieces. So upsetting, he broke up the family!!! My baby didn't have a daddy or a dog any more :(

Does anyone remember the parking garage? I used to launch the cars down it.
Ducky - July 22, 2008 - Report this comment
YES! I remember the parking garage! Wasn't there some sort of car lift in there...? Or was that a different toy? Anyway, this is super RANDOM but my local dry-cleaning service had a play area & they had the farm & parking garage. For years I associated dry-cleaning with happiness because of this :P

We had these! I had the Little People house, it was blue with lattice on it, and it had a roll up garage door, and a doorbell that worked. It had a car, a mom, dad, sister, brother and dog. I loved this toy. My sister had the hospital with the ambulance and doctor and nurse. We used to take my people to her hospital. We could never room the patients though, because she chewed up the sponge out of the beds!
Kim - September 22, 2008 - Report this comment
Here is my Little People story. My brother and I had the camper with truck and the boat, so we somehow opened the sewer lid (meter) and put them down in there to swim. Yuck! I was only about 3 or 4, but I remember my mom coming outside around the corner of the house mad!!
Kim - September 22, 2008 - Report this comment
Oh ya, we had the Sesame Street one. You could drop the characters down into these slides and they would come out the bottom. It was a house that looked like something off of the street on the show. It had Bert and Ernie little people.

Okay, last comment here on little people! I just remembered that I used to play with one that was a zoo. Was the little people too or just Fisher Price. It was like 2 stories tall, I can't remember it all but it was definately a zoo.

I had the school house with the chalk board in it, the house I think was tudor style and some sort of hospital. I used the school house the most. My cousing taught me my first curse word on the chalkboard.

I practically had all the Little People sets. They used to belong to my big brother, but then I started playing with them constantly. They were so much fun and kept me busy for hours. Too bad I don't a lot of them anymore. I still have the old schoolhouse and the little van. Ahh....these toys bring back such memories.

I had a lot of the Little People playsets. I would constantly play with them for hours. I feel bad that I don't have them anymore. The only Little People things I still have are the old schoolhouse from the 70's, the Sesame Street clubhouse, and the little van from the 70's. Man, I miss playing with them!

These were awesome. I had a house, the farm (with the door that would "moo" when you opened it), the plane ("The plane! The plane!), and the garage. My grandma had a different garage (it was older) and a bus for us to play with when we visited.

I had tons of the Little People stuff! The house, McDonalds(yes McD's), school with a school bus, farm house, airplane, camping set, zoo, parking garage, ferris wheel, and many others. I played with them for hours and hours. Mother used to make me stop to take a nap then I was back at it again. That was all I ever wanted for Christmas and my birthday. I still have some of mine and my daughter played with them too when she was young. What great times! I even played pool in the sink with them cause they "wanted" to go swimming. This always got me in trouble for playing in the water. I had water everywhere cause they were "diving" into the pool. Kids now a days dont know how to have that much fun!

I had the "mooing" barn...and the castle!! The pink dragon!! I played with that for HOURS...I loved dropping people down the trapdoor into the little jail cell, and putting stuff behind the staircase.

I loved these. I had a barn, schoolhouse and a main street. These toys really sparked my imagination. The people were plastic.
SZA - February 04, 2009 - Report this comment
Yeah, but back in the early days the Little People were wood. With plastic hair!
Carla - February 05, 2009 - Report this comment
We had the house, castle, farm and train set. We would set it all up like a little community and use IMAGINATIVE play for hours. Kids have difficulty using their imaginations this day and age. Although i believe it was a 70's toy.

I loved these when I was little. My older sisters and my brother had a ton of them along with the school house. I used it for a barn haha :)

My 4 year old niece is in love with my Little People house eventhough the beds have lost their sponge mattresses and the glue that's left is sort of creepy looking.

To say I still adore these Little People dolls would be an understatement. Why can't they make things this cute these days? Kids are missing out on the sweet, simple stuff these days.

I had these as a kid too and remember getting the hospital for my birthday. I was SO excited. My 3 1/2 yr old son loves his little people too. He only likes the "vintage" ones though, not the new kind. He calls them "guys and cars". We plays with them everyday. I've bought him the airport, jet plane, school bus, village, fire station, and lift and load depot. My sister told me today she found my hospital and is mailing it to me to put away for Christmas for him. He's going to love it! The garage would be great too but is so expensive!

I know what Kim is talking about, I had the "zoo" set too. I vaguely remember, but I do remember a hippo in the lagoon that would open and close its mouth with a lever. My mother was sure to scour every garage sale in town so she- I mean, I could play with them. We had a boat, the sesame street set, the parking garage, zoo, and a ferris wheel. I think I also had a fire department too, or that could have been part of the sesame st set. I love little people, but Im not fond of the new, more complex looking, fatter ones. And they have CELLPHONES now? Psh. Little people shouldnt even be ambulatory in my book, why change the formula?

Yooooo, My sisters and I used to play with these. We would call them "Weebles", did that catch on outside of our house? lol
T - November 10, 2009 - Report this comment
I had a TON of Little People stuff, most of it bought used at garage sales and flea markets. I had a swingset, a school set, a tree house, and a lot more. So much fun! And joecap, Weebles are a different toy. "Weebles wobble but they don't fall down!" They were little egg shaped things that were weighted in the bottom and would wobble around when you pushed them.

My daughter found a green Little People taxi driver in the ground on the side of our yard; I almost started crying from all the memories. I remember playing for hours with the little house and all the furniture. I have vague memories of the cottage and barn... My daughter now wants a "vintage" set, (the kind I used to play with in the 80's...vintage, hahahaha) as we all know the new ones are kind of dumb looking. Who's idea was it to put arms on them?? You can just go making changes to a classic... My son got some of the new ones for Christmas last year, and I didn't even know they were the modernized Little People of my childhood days. They do sell the vintage ones on ebay-a pretty good selection and fair price- and I've even seen some on amazon.

I remember I had a camp bus that came with a driver and when you rolled it, the wheels would push a loose board (which never came off) up and down and the Little People looked like they were REALLY riding a bumpy bus ride to camp!
