Description
They were foam rubber balls that had gross faces. Some were cyclops or eyeballs or were showing their brains. There were lunchboxes and comics too.

I had some of these. A baseball one, a yellow mummy one, a werewolf one (my favorite) I think it was a cartoon, too.

Ha! I had one of these. It was green with crazy eyes. It wasn't a very "girly" toy but I thought it was cool!

Both my husband and I had these. They were simple, but cool. The ones I got were from one of those store vending machines.

I used to have some of these too, and this week I went to Bed Bath & Beyond, where they were SELLING THEM! I wanted to buy them, but my boyfriend reminded me that I don't have them any more for a reason!

I had these. I also saw a cartoon episode of them once, or something exactly like them.

I just saw these being sold again at Bed Bath and Beyond.. 2009. I had one in the 80's.

I still have my Freddy Krueger madball! A few years ago I would fill it up and squirt people in the eyes with it. I was not too popular at the parties after that, haha

we had Slobulus, Aargh, Hornhead, Dust Brain, Oculus Orbus, Bruised Brother, Splitting Headache, and even two knock offs from a series called the weird balls and one more from a series I don't even remember the names. We were so nuts over madballs we even had a Screaming Meemie and a Horn Head halloween mask, but I remember them being way too big for an eight year old. The only reason I remember all the names is because STAR made a comic book version which I still have (in very poor condition), though I never saw the animated series.

Wow!! I had the one with the brain showing. Not sure of the name. It is still floating around somewhere. I will have to find it...
WereDog - May 24, 2009 - Report this comment
I had Screemin' Meemie, both the regular ball and the head poppin' figure. I rented the cartoon once. They were a rock band on a planet where music was outlawed so they came to earth. Naturally the bad guys followed them. You'd think they would have been happy to be rid of them but cartoon logic doesn't always work that way I guess. I found issue one of the Madballs comic in the house we moved to last year. I still have it.

Man I remember I always wanted The Baseball one, but he was never in stock.
T - November 10, 2009 - Report this comment
I always wanted one of these. My parents got me some generic off brand one, because they thought the Madballs brand were too expensive. It just wasn't the same. :( I really wanted the eyeball. Oculus Orbus, maybe?

I worked for the company that revived these. A little place called Basic Fun in southampton, PA. Unfortuantely, they didn't fly off the shelves the way they thought.
JessicaRaven - May 09, 2010 - Report this comment
I like the new ones actually, they didn't try to redesign them or "update them" in any way other than a better level of detail in the sculpting and colour, I have Horn Head sitting on my computer monitor now, would love to find Oculus Orbis, and Skull Head to go with him

I have 4 of them and recenrlty found them, a few weks ago the heads popped off on two of them by themselves only to realize the plastic that holds the heads broke. I have the Werewolf, SKeleton, Oculous, and this biker looking one. I also had the football, soccerball, and basketball, all of which are long destroyed when my dads dog got hold of them =( BAH!!!!

Series 3 apparently ships sometime during January 2011, after a Fall 2009 promise date. Quick question to Dave Black - did Basic Fun give up dist. rights to the new Series 3? Who's making/distributing them now?

I still have a Madballs vhs called "Gross Jokes". My mom got me a fake madball from the flea-market...it was red and looked devil-ish! I think I also had another knock-off madball that was a pale blue/green zombie thing, lol!

The tricycle was called the Rollercycle, it went with the Head Poppers figures (and came with Hornhead). Those were action figures with mini madballs heads that popped off with a switch on the back. then there was the regular Madballs. They have skyrocketed in price lately. I have all the Headpoppers except Oculous Orb, and the Rollercycle, a few original Madballs still on card, a squirting one, and one that's a top (Snake Bait), plus I have the silly string gun they made, and all the vintage wind ups mint on card. There was also other companies that made knock offs or their versions, like Weird Balls from Mel Appel, Strange Balls, etc.
