Description
Board game where you moved around the mall buying stuff. Had talking center that announced sales and things. You had a credit card and when you maxed out all you needed to do was get to the closest ATM on the board to get more money and the budget crisis was over! The main point of the game was to get the cutest outfit before all of the other players...mine and my girlfriends' first concept of responsible credit use. This could help to explain some of my compulsive buying tendencies today!!!

I loved this game too. I still have it! A couple of weeks ago I took it out to play with my anti-capitalist husband. He was like no I don't want to buy a $200 bird and were is the money coming from when you go to the bank!!!

I had that game, but it was a 90's game, do you have a section for 90's toy as well, cause I was born in 1984, so I was also a kid of the 90's. I thought there was also a section for 90's toys.

This was is favorite game of all time. I always looked forward to when it anounced the sales and clearances, especially when it announced the "Kitchen Store" because it sounded like they said the Chichen Store.

I love Tammy's comment. My husband made a similar argument - and he refused to even play the game with me. He said, "Do these teenaged shoppers have a job??? Or do they just use Daddy's credit card?!? I won't play a game that encourages reckless spending and credit card abuse!!!"

I loved this game. The sounds were a bit off though. Instead of a clearnace at the Kitchen store, it was at the chichen store. The remake isn't as good though!

I Still have mine!!! One of the only things I saved!! "Your item costs 5 dollars more!" "RED, Uh-oh, you left your headlights on...go to the parking lot!" My sister always cheated and I always lost!

I loved this game! The original was the best, hands down. I'm sure the newer versions are fun too but I loved the old school 80's one (shown). A few years ago I was on an online forum with about 100 women who grew up in the 80's and when someone asked about favorite board games from our childhoods, like 70+ out of 100 women said their favorite was Mall Madness! I never knew it was so popular.

Oh my gosh, I loved this game. I didn't realize it'd come out in the 80s. I got it for my 13th birthday in early 1991 (one of my friends had it before then and I'd asked for it). My friends and I used to laugh at the voices. When they'd say "there is a sale at the phone store" it sounded like "food store", lol. And the snotty way they'd say "YOUR item costs 5 dollars more!" If you tried to get money from the bank before you purchased anything, you'd get a robotic voice going "BANK CLOSED." We cracked up at that game more than we probably should have, lol

The first Mall Madness game (Milton Bradley) came out in summer, 1989. In 1996 and 2004, new, updated versions came out. Early TV commercial for this aired on "Completely Mental Misadventures of Ed Grimley" over NBC (6/18/89). AA-size batteries powered the PA system.
