Description
Another cartoon/toy crossover, cars which would transform into weapons of war. The toys were sort of a rip off of Transformers; they usually had some kind of dual nature ie. The bad guy had a helicopter that could also transform into a jet plane, and they main good guy had a race car that could transform into a jet also I think. Very cool show.

Less a rip-off of Transformers, more like a cross between GI Joe and Transformers because of the action figures. Love the show, and the toys were generally cool, but I have to say that the Thunderhawk was lame upon lame as toys go. I mean, here it is, the vehicle of the leader of MASK, should be coolest of all, but its transformation into a "Jet" consists entirely of opening its De Lorean style doors. Opening the car doors upwards doesn't make a jet; it makes a car with its doors opened upward.

I have to agree YJK Thunderhawk was lame. He should of had Switchblade, the helicpoter that turned into the jet.

I used to collect MASK toys when I was young. But only the small ones and not the big ones. That's what I could have afford back then. I wish that the cartoon will come back to reruns or put on DVD soon.

Matt, The show did release on DVD back in November 2006 and March 2007. From what I have read. I loved this show! And the toys, I had all of em as a kid, and loved em so much around 21 I bought them all again. That was about 3 years ago. LOL! That theme song still pops into my head all the time!

I used to use them as children to my G.I. Joes cause they were right size for it :)

I've just given my 6 year old the DVDs and had to get him all the toys for Christmas as he LOVES it. Even his transformer toys are now MASK ones lol

The best vehicle was Raven, a black sort of 2 door Thunderbird car that switches into a boat. I would double it as my knight Rider Kit car, LOL. Man i miss the old day cartoons. Better story lines and drawings back then. Imagine that.

I also had a ton of these toys! MASK was awesome! I was fortunate to stumble upon them at my parents house. Sad part is I sold the on Ebay...I miss them now.

after the TRANSFORMERS and KNIGHT RIDER...in theatre... I really wish to see M.A.S.K !! xD if they could make a robot from a car and a car that could talk, a flying car and a jetcopter would be easy, right? :D

Hey y'all, just got done watching some clips of MASK on You Tube. Don't forget about the 4 issues comic book that DC Comics published. Man, I wish I still have those issues. =P

Okay...true about Thunderhawk, but didn't the spoiler also pop up to create the engine exhausts or something? I agree it would be cool to see this as a movie...most of the cool toys from the 80s would blow away anything now.
RFO - June 19, 2008 - Report this comment
Gotta disagree on the Thunderhawk; its gull-wing doors made it any easy crossover for playing Back to the Future, a franchise that was sorely lacking in any action figure/playset tie-ins.

I still have Thunderhawk somewhere. LOL, it is actually a red 3rd generation bodystyle Camaro!

I placed with all the toys when I was younger. I still have them all, including the gas station that converted into the MASK headquarters! Boy, some great memories! Never knew it was a comic though!

I love G.I. Joe and keep collecting the 3 3/4" figures and stumbled upon MASK maybe a year ago online. What awesome memories. Me and my brother watching the cartoon every day after school. Then the toys came out. Between us and our friend, we had all of them. I just bought a couple and am looking to buy two more for my birthday: Firefly and Firecracker. Have the Stinger and the Gator. Awesome toys. Getting the DVDs next. MASK is awesome!

Just love the M.A.S.K. cartoon series! Back then,I was given the choices between Bravestarr M.A.S.K. as my parents couldn't afford to buy both for me... so I chose Bravestarr. But after 20++yrs down the road,I've regretted that I didn't own one.But with eBay,I am now starting to collect the toys back and I've got few likes - Condor, Piranha, Rhino, Raven, Gator, Slingshot.Hope to collect few more for my personal collection.I got the dvd's too!Anyway, they don't make cartoons like they used too. M.A.S.K. are just amazing !

Me and my friend played with these too. he had a bunch and i had just one....that crappy Thunderhawk. Me and him had a thing where if we were into a toy line the 'Leader' ones were usually the coolest to us. Well the one time i actually got a 'leader' toy and it was a disappointment.

I loved the cartoon, missed a heap of episodes due to playing sport at some stage and always thought" I will have to get back to watching it again" Only just remembered now. I guess the series is finished lol

I still have Condor and Pirannah and that black Blazer with the bald guy...I think it was jackhammer. Oh...I owned an iroc and trust me....theres not enough headroom for a fullface mask to drop down over ya head....maybe he had the t-top out or somethin lol

One day in the class my Sir mentioned about this MASK cartoon that he watched. I think is the inspiration for the Transfomer cartoon. And i like it!

I think that everyone who ever had any M.A.S.K. related toys had that green bike/helicopter thing
Dean - December 13, 2008 - Report this comment
MASK freakin owned. The toys and the cartoon itself were great. The cartoon had some really decent storylines and the toys were well-made.

I still have the black bronco, orange jeep and 57 Chevy on top of a bookcase in my home theater room. Always a good conversation starter!

I am apalled(sp?) that no one mentioned Rhino (semi that opened to pretty much a tank)! They started to make a heck of a lot more as time went on and the joy of the cartoon was to see which ones would make the show. The good Ole days! Toys these days just aren't what they used to be!
Brian - May 27, 2009 - Report this comment
When are they going to make a real life MASK MOVIE? With the success of transformer and GI JOE I am sure MASK would do awesome on the big screen
