Description

Original Oopsie Daisy doll was big, about 24" in length, and was launched in 1988. This doll was in BIG demand for the Xmas of '88, and quickly sold out. Parents were fighting over what stock was available, just like the phenomenon of the "Cabbage Patch" doll in 1984.

Unfortunately, the design of this doll was it's downfall. In Jan '89, Irwin Toy recalled the doll due to design problems. Heads were falling off, hair was coming out, legs were detaching from the body-the list goes on.

In 1989, Irwin relaunched the doll in a smaller version, about 17", but the fad was long over by the time Christmas rolled around for 1989.

I have an adorable Oopsie Baby that works perfectly. she is about 18" but her trademark is 1988 so I don't know if she is the earlier or later version. I do know she is the cutest thing when she crawls and slips and cries for mama's help. But, like any baby, when mama doesn't come, she rights herself and goes on her way.

(to the tune of pop goes the weasel) "oopsie daisy's learning to crawl, she's such a pretty baby...oop! oopsie daisy!"

when I was a little girl I got an oopsie daisy doll the year they came out and my brother absolutely hated the thing cuz I played with it so much.. anyhow he used to sing this song to me (again to the tune of pop goes the weasel) Oopsie daisy's not ready to crawl she's such a stupid baby, she falls down the stairs and nobody cares... oops I killed the baby...!! Yup, that was one of my fonder memories of the sibling rivalry between my brother and I lol...

I still have this doll! I am 22 and I remember getting it for Christmas when I was 3 or 4 I think. All I know is that I heard the story later on of how my Pepaw waited in line at Toys R Us for HOURS and HOURS, and nearly got killed trying to get one and then almost lost it when some lady tried to steal it from him! hahah I guess I was loved!

Wow! I remember my cousin had this doll when we were little. She was so excited to have a crawling baby doll. She didn't expect the doll to slip, fall, and cry, so she began to cry because she thought her "baby" was hurt. It was the funniest Christmas ever! We still crack up about that when the holidays roll around.

I can't believe other people have experience the same horror as my daughter did when she three. We had bought the Oopsie Daisy and we have on video the doll crawling across the kitchen with her head dropped to her shoulders. The video I filmed is quite funny, but the poor thing crawling without a head is pretty pathetic. My daughter will have comfort knowing other girls have had the same experience. I am not the bad mother she portrays me to be laughing at such a sight.

I still have mine! I am 24 and got her when i was about 5! she was not the original as the others broke had their heads knocked off, so she is the 4th one! She still works and i found her in the loft not played with her since i was 9 i think, but i am going to keep her for life!

Every year at Christmas I think of that Oopsy Daisy Doll that I wanted so much in 1988 and never recieved! My dad had gotten layed-off from his job. I never knew that it got recalled! I feel so vindicated!

I had one too, back in the younger days, but then it fell and cried and as a child I got scared and hated it, so my parents took it back. I'd like to have one again if I could ever find one.

I got her for a b-day one year. I remember her saying oopsy daisy at the end of the commercial. She was great until her batteries ran out and that was it for me.

I had one too, but I remember it had a red outfit, and didn't have a binki, and mine you could adjust the doll upright and hold it's hands and it could walk like a baby taking it's first steps. I can't find any pics of this doll, mine was from early 80's, like 83or 84

I got an oopsi daisy Doll for Christmas when I was 5 Years old in 1988. I was so upset because it didn't work. It crawled and stopped. Then I got another one and it didn't crawl at all. I was devastated. Does anyone have one that works that I could buy. My mum gave her back and I never got another.
