Description

Original Oopsie Daisy doll was big, about 24" in length, and was launched in 1988. This doll was in BIG demand for the Xmas of '88, and quickly sold out. Parents were fighting over what stock was available, just like the phenomenon of the "Cabbage Patch" doll in 1984.

Unfortunately, the design of this doll was it's downfall. In Jan '89, Irwin Toy recalled the doll due to design problems. Heads were falling off, hair was coming out, legs were detaching from the body-the list goes on.

In 1989, Irwin relaunched the doll in a smaller version, about 17", but the fad was long over by the time Christmas rolled around for 1989.

I have an adorable Oopsie Baby that works perfectly. she is about 18" but her trademark is 1988 so I don't know if she is the earlier or later version. I do know she is the cutest thing when she crawls and slips and cries for mama's help. But, like any baby, when mama doesn't come, she rights herself and goes on her way.

(to the tune of pop goes the weasel) "oopsie daisy's learning to crawl, she's such a pretty baby...oop! oopsie daisy!"

when I was a little girl I got an oopsie daisy doll the year they came out and my brother absolutely hated the thing cuz I played with it so much.. anyhow he used to sing this song to me (again to the tune of pop goes the weasel) Oopsie daisy's not ready to crawl she's such a stupid baby, she falls down the stairs and nobody cares... oops I killed the baby...!! Yup, that was one of my fonder memories of the sibling rivalry between my brother and I lol...

I still have this doll! I am 22 and I remember getting it for Christmas when I was 3 or 4 I think. All I know is that I heard the story later on of how my Pepaw waited in line at Toys R Us for HOURS and HOURS, and nearly got killed trying to get one and then almost lost it when some lady tried to steal it from him! hahah I guess I was loved!

"Oopsie Daisy's learning to crawl, she's such a pretty baby Oopsie Daisy's nice as can be-- Wahhh! Oopsie Daisy!" (Narrator) When Oopsie Daisy crawls, she falls and gets right back up again! "Wahh! Oopsie Daisy!"

wow! lol. i still have her at my parents house! i remember when i got her! we have it on video!! i remember my dad looking at my mom the first time he heard the doll 'cry'-he said "no, THAT'S not annoying in the least!" then he laughed! good times.....

Wow! I remember my cousin had this doll when we were little. She was so excited to have a crawling baby doll. She didn't expect the doll to slip, fall, and cry, so she began to cry because she thought her "baby" was hurt. It was the funniest Christmas ever! We still crack up about that when the holidays roll around.

I can't believe other people have experience the same horror as my daughter did when she three. We had bought the Oopsie Daisy and we have on video the doll crawling across the kitchen with her head dropped to her shoulders. The video I filmed is quite funny, but the poor thing crawling without a head is pretty pathetic. My daughter will have comfort knowing other girls have had the same experience. I am not the bad mother she portrays me to be laughing at such a sight.

Every year at Christmas I think of that Oopsy Daisy Doll that I wanted so much in 1988 and never recieved! My dad had gotten layed-off from his job. I never knew that it got recalled! I feel so vindicated!

I had one too, back in the younger days, but then it fell and cried and as a child I got scared and hated it, so my parents took it back. I'd like to have one again if I could ever find one.

I had one too, but I remember it had a red outfit, and didn't have a binki, and mine you could adjust the doll upright and hold it's hands and it could walk like a baby taking it's first steps. I can't find any pics of this doll, mine was from early 80's, like 83or 84

I got an oopsi daisy Doll for Christmas when I was 5 Years old in 1988. I was so upset because it didn't work. It crawled and stopped. Then I got another one and it didn't crawl at all. I was devastated. Does anyone have one that works that I could buy. My mum gave her back and I never got another.

If I remember right, my Oopsie Daisy had a string on her back that you pulled and she would (attempt to) stand up from an all-fours position. My 3-yr old got a Little Mommies Walk & Giggle doll for Christmas which made me suddenly think about my Oopsie Daisy from 20+ yrs ago! :)

I remember that I begged my mother for this doll and finally received it one Christmas. I played with her for a few days then I lost interest. The doll could not sit, could not be laid down, it was a nightmare to try to change her clothes, all she could do was crawl, fall and cry over and over again. I quickly got tired of that and moved on to less technical dolls that allowed more freedom of the imagination when I played with them. I am not sure what happened to the doll though. I think it was left in my playhouse and was then tossed away when I as a teenager wanted to paint the old playhouse black and create a ghost house feel in it.

It is nice to know that I am not the only one who had the head come off of the doll. I was on a vacation with my grandparents, and I decided to take this doll with me to sleep with even though I was eight and half years old. So, we leave for the vacation, and somehow Oopsy Daisy's head comes off in the car. My grandparents got me two Oopsy Daisys on that vacation as her head kept coming off. I sort of though that the third time was the charm, but it happened again except my parents bought me the fourth one which I had until we moved to another state in the fourth grade.

I've been going thru my daughter's boxes & boxes of toys. I was amazed she still works, we never removed her batteries before being packed away. But never had any problems with her. I think someone's thinking about the Baby Heather Doll. But it took years before her head fell off and lost a leg. She had head surgery a couple of weeks ago, leg surgery this week. My cats are the one's that are scared of OOPSIE DAISY:)

Im 27 and i got my doll as one of the origionals (1988) i thought she was the greatest thing! I still have her and except for her clothes being a bit dirty she looks brand new, she has all her limbs, thankfully! I bought my daughter the new version (baby alive, i craw and cry) its a newer, extremely small version of the oopsie baby, my doll looks like a giant next to hers. lol! but she loves playing with both.

My daughter Charlotte loved her Oopsie Daisy doll. She was broken hearted when her younger brother age about 3 broke its head off. He also had a wee in her jewellery box but that was nothing compared to her beloved Oopsie Daisy doll being broke. She still talks about THE INCIDENT now and she is 27. I am on the look out to buy her one but hear they stopped making them as quite a few literally lost their heads. Oh well perhaps the company will bring out another doll similar to Oopsie Daisy, I would love to get one. suebou@hotmail.co.uk

@Chrissy That was hilarious. I know it was 7 years ago when you left this message so I know you will never get this. However I was around 11 when that song came out and I used to sing it all the time because it was on during Saturday morning cartoons. to this day anytime I make a mistake anywhere I am at work at home and I say whoops in my head I instantly go into that song, I've done that my whole life and now I see this version of the song and it made me laugh.

I have an Oopsie Daisy doll that I got for Christmas when I was 11 years old. I wrote the date on the inside of the cover, December 25, 1988. And placed her on my shelf. I still have her, still in perfect condition. I took her out a week ago to see if she still works, and she's still like brand new. Love it! Been thinking about selling her though. I have a little boy, so no little girl to pass her to. If anyone may be interested in making an offer, email me at stacymarie1279@yahoo.com

This was my favorite toy I got for Christmas in 88. But as a kid I never understood why my mom wouldn't let me play with her for longer than 30 minutes. Once I was older( around 16) I finally asked her when the subject of childhood toys came up. Apparently there was a disgruntled employee that programmed the doll to say f--- you after 45 min of continuous play. Now she is my little novelty that I'm holding on too.

I wanted an oopies daisy doll so dad when they came out in 1988. I was 6 and my sister was 4. My dad couldn't get them in store as they sold out. He ended up convincing a woman who had 2 to sell him the 2 she had gotten at over DOUBLE the price she paid. I was the happiest kid that year. Until my sister broke hers and then stole mine and got a Lego stuck in her leg. I'm 37 years old now and I haven't let her live it down. Just today I found one on Ebay that I purchased for myself for Christmad. Exactly 31 years later I will have my favourite toy back. I'm so excited.
