This was my favorite toy also. I had mine in the mid to late 70's. I have tried to find one for my boys but never have seen one since I was a kid.

I owned a couple of these in the early 70s. I rode them so often the weld on the front legs broke. It was a great toy but I remember not everyone could ride it because you had to move your body in just the right way to get it to gallop. I wish it was available for my daughter.

This was the best toy ever, I had this in 1973/74. It was the closest I got to a real horse and I never knew of anyone else who had one.

This was by far my most favorite toy as a child. I wish I could find one in bad shape to try to make a big one for me to ride now. lol. Seriously, I would love to have one for my grandchildren to ride. I do remember that is was good excersice!

Pogo the pony actually came out in 1969, he cost $24.95 new, alot at that time. My sister had one, and she could gallop like crazy, however in the wrong hands he was an accident waiting to happen! You had to bounce and flip his front feet back and bounce again and flip his legs forward to go forward. If you went back too far with his front legs you would crash over top and land on the ground, which i excelled at!!! He would never be ramade, too dangerous for todays kids, but i did just purchase one for my grandson, found him in really good shape at a flea market for $85, non-negotionable!

I had one of these when I was a young girl and like the comments of Erin and Holly you had to get the technique down to ride it and it could get out of control. I rode mine until the horse shoes wore down to nothing, I guess it was my way of making it "REAL" Loved my Pogo Good Memories!

I had one of these and could gallop up and down the road all day, much to the other kids annoyance, as we were the only family i knew that owned one. I`d give my right arm to own one today, aaarrrr, those were the days!!

I live in the UK and I had one of these as a kid about 1973/4. I never saw another one ever. No other kid I knew had one. Its still in my loft as well. It was quite possibly the best toy ever.

Are you interested in buying coin operated horses or spring rocking horses??? They are sold on Ebay. Most spring horses are made by Blazon, Wonder, Flexible Flyer, and Radio Flyer. Feel free to buy as many as you like. Good luck!!! :) Ebay account required.

AH!! I haven't seen a picture of this toy for over 40 years! So happy to have found this site! I too have very fond memories of galloping Pogo down the streets of Willow Grove, the suburban PA town were I grew up. I was crazy-for-horses, but this was as close as I ever got to owning one as a child. He was tricky to ride, but once you got the hang of it you could gallop or trot along at a quick pace! I think mine finally broke from over use (!!) and had to be stabled in the basement for good. I did visit him regularly though! When I moved to ME in 1972 I was lucky enough to find a real stable with real horses to ride at in exchange for work. Work? Anything to do with horses, even shoveling manure, was heaven to me! I'm now 53 and disabled, but I still have a real horse! I probably owe some of my riding skills to this great toy!
