I was collecting dog stuff when Pooch Patrol dogs came out. I remember really wanting one or two for my collection, but I never got any of the big ones. I got a smaller one. it was in a laying down position and when you squeezed his belly, he'd open and close his mouth.

Haha my brother had the poodle. I have a brown one with big floppy ears. Needless to say I named him "Floppy". I've had him since I was two or three [I'm 21]. Weird thing; I was in a thrift store today and I found the exact same one, for one 99 cents so I bought it.

I had one and his name was Scooter. I believe he was border collie. My girl friend and i were just talking bout them. We want one for our two year old daughter. Any ideas where to get one?
Louve - April 09, 2008 - Report this comment
There are some on eBay, though I've only seen the brown with long ears one (sort of bloodhound), the grey poodle and the sort of mutt (beige with brown spot on eye). I'm personally looking for the black and white one with no success... When I was a kid I badly wanted the black and white one. Did I dream it or was there a white one with black spots at some point? In the blakc and white shades I've only seen a completly black one with white muzzle and paws...

I can't believe no one here has mentioned the "Pooch Patrol" commercial. Remember this: "When the lightning starts to flash, they'll protect you from the crash, you've got Pooch Patrol." LOL

I got a pooch patrol for my very first christmas, his name is Shadow. And he was my fave toy, and 14 years later he is still my best friend. I still sleep with him too because i've gotten so use to holding him i can't stand to sleep without something in my arms.

I had and still have Sarge, the light brown bull dog(?) since i was 7 years old (i'm 25 now) I remember i got a piece of paper with him and sent it off and got a metal for him but the metal broke YEARS ago... wow what memories!! Sarge comes wherever i go, and even when my now 7 month old son is older he won't be allowed to play with Sarge. He's in pretty mint condition, just a couple sewing repairs and the bendy stuff in his ears and tail are pooched(haha pooch) but yah. I loveeee my pooch partol!!!

I don't have one of the originals, I have a Super Pooch. I think those came a bit later? I submitted a pic. His cape is a bit wrinkled from being folded in the pouch so long.
WereDog - June 19, 2009 - Report this comment
The commercial came roaring back to me. When there's shadows on the wall and you're feeling scared and Small call The POOCH PATROL! When big brother plays a trick you'll get rid of him quick with the POOCH PATROL! I wanted one of these sooo bad even though I was in my early teens ( 13 or so ) and supposedly too old for toys. But as I said earlier I collected dogs and wanted to add one of these to the pack. The little one I got looked like one of the ones pictured but instead of standing he laid flat on his belly. I still wish I could find one of the big ones. They should bring them back.

Red Medicine - February 19, 2010 - Report this comment
These were pretty cute; I used to sleep with them every night as a child, three puppies per side. I have Reggie, Spike, Spotty, Scruffy, Rascal and Floppy, which I think are the six original models. (Perhaps they released more afterwards.) I also own an adult-sized version of Spotty. They're stuffed at the bottom of a toybox I still have. I should dig them out someday.
Red Medicine - February 19, 2010 - Report this comment
Based on the pictures in that gallery, the poodle and the one with glow-in-the-dark eyes were definitely released after the originals, as I remember begging my parents to buy me every available model at the time. Perhaps I could sell mine; they're still in pretty great condition, except for Floppy (my fave), whose "teeth" have begun to erode a little.

I spend a good part of last night looking for these things. I had one when I was a kid, and LOVED IT. His name was Boomer, and he went with me everywhere. Someone stole him from me though, and ruined a part of my childhood!

There were four original ones, the poodle Fifi, Spike, the yellow/grey/brown mutt with furry feet, Rascal, the grey and white one with black ears, and Floppy, the bloodhound.

Looking at the picture of the Pooch Patrol designs, their names are as follows (at least what they were in Canada), from top left to right: 1) Scruffy 2) Spike 3) Floppy 4) Bitsy 5) Shadow 6) Rascal 7) Spottie I have almost every Pooch Patrol ever made and I remember the majority of their names XD

Remember the super hero ones? Where they ahve a cape and their eyebrow flips down to make a mask and they have metallic paint inside their lips? I just found my brown one (I forget his name! ): ) while packing and had to share with my fiance! I will never part with him, not ever! These were some of the coolest plush out there!
trip-d - October 12, 2010 - Report this comment
I have all of the Pooch Patrols (there are probably over twenty of them in total, considering all the spin-offs) save for King and Crusader (as they were known in Canada, at the very least), two very hard-to-find "Super Pooches." The Pooch Patrols are by far the dearest toys of my childhood and so I will never part with them. On that note, it's quite interesting to see just how many other people commenting here seem to have held onto these particular plush toys as well.
Kraken - November 05, 2010 - Report this comment
I think I might have had one of these as a kid. I remember it had brown fur and a cape. I had no idea about this toy line so my family just called it "Superdog." I may still have it tucked away somewhere in storage.

Does anyone have a pooch patrol named rusty???!
Amie - May 21, 2011 - Report this comment
I do. Rusty was the only pooch patrol I ever had, he was a collie I think. He used to be so soft and fluffy, then my parents washed him and unfortunately dried him and so his hair became more matted and curly. Still loved him though. :)

I have Midnight, the Doberman one with the glow in the dark eyes and mouth. I got him when I was about 5 years old because I'd been having repeating nightmares several times a night for weeks. My parents told me he would keep me safe and protect me from bad dreams if I made sure to "charge him with the power of light" so he could see all night to watch over me. And, well, I suppose a child's imagination is a powerful thing because I can count on one hand the number of nightmares I've had since he came into my life. I'm just about 29 now. These are amazing plush toys and it's a real shame they're not in production any longer. I hope to clean Midnight up (he's very well loved) and pass him on to my own child someday when he's needed again.

I received Rusty one Christmas. I woke up earlier than everyone every year (effect of leaving for babysitter before Mom's job) and my aunt said NO ONE could open present or stockings until everyone was awake and we ate breakfast (about 10am). So my Mom left Rusty unwrapped so I would have someone to play with as the adults slept. Unfortunately, he was in the package and I was such a good little girl, I wouldn't dare use the scissors without an adult. I kept flipping Rusty's lip up and down for approx. an hour until an adult woke up and I dragged her, pjs et al., to the kitchen and opened the drawer so she would cut out my dog. My Mom felt so guilty, because she thought I would just use the scissors myself. FYI, my [something] of an aunt had kids a few years later and suddenly kids shouldn't have to wait. We got up and traveled to arrive for 6:30 am and they had opened all their presents. They didn't even just put aside the gifts from us so we would see their faces.
