I really wanted the grandma pound puppy that was on all the boxes when i was at school so i wrote to the company expectin not a great deal but was so shocked to recieve one of the few prototypes that was made and a letter tellin that she never made it production so i was the only little girl in the country with one. Priceless

The cartoon was one of the best the 80s had to offer but I prefer the Pound Puppy I have now to the one I had then. He's electronic, his head moves and he barks. I call him Poundie.

I have a pound puppy but it's not like the newer velour ones it is made of a cotton like material and his eyes are not button ones either they are sort of like the iron on transfers? He is genuine and I was bought him in the early 80's with his red leather collar and brown cardboard box( which are sadly long gone) I can't seem to find anyone else who has one like this though, everyone I have seen is the newer plush soft ones, mine is beige with brown spots and my brother has one that is brown with black spots, anyone lse have one like this?

I have the same type!!! Can't find any reference to them anywhere else. I have the original paperwork and they where supported by NSW RSPCA. They came out earlier than the velour ones I think.

I have a Pound Puppy I got when I was three (1989). He is tan, has the longer ears that flip over his eyes (and I think were sewn together with a tiny bit of thread at one point). He also has a zipper on his belly where his "voice box" was. He'd bark at all hours of the night if I forgot to turn him off, but I slept through it all anyway. I can't seem to find any dog like him, and I'd really like to...

I collect these. Right now I have about 15 of them with three more coming in the mail as of this writing. When I was a kid I had a grey one with short ears. I miss that guy. When I got him out of Lay A Way I took him to the Pound Puppies aisle so he could say goodbye to his friends. I named him Elliott. I also wrote a story about him for a magazine contest where he fought off a Sasquatch to protect me. I was a weird kid. And I didn't even win.

I have the all chocolate brown one with the red leather collar that always sleeps protecting me at the bottom corner of my bed, 3 little ones with their red bow silk collars and the tan one with the dark chocolate long floppy ears and spots. Its amazing I've had them for 30 years LoL. Right after I got my tan one, my cousin came over, grabbed him from me and threw him on the tile floor in our family room walkway and his plastic nose just broke clean off! I screamed my head off and my mom grabbed him and his nose to "perform surgery" in the other room and super glued it back on. To this day he still has a small clear ring of dried super glue around his nose and it makes my chuckle when I look at him because I remember that day like it was yesterday! LoL :D

I have a grey with long black ears and a zipper in her belly where she had 3 black and white spotted puppies. I've check on line and can't seem to find another similar to her. My two grown daughters had about 75 pound puppies between them when they were little. Just retrieved two totes of them from the shed today and counted about 50. One daughter is reluctantly giving a friend of her's, who has three toddlers, a mom and three babies. The rest she is keeping for her soon to be born son. Both daughters still remember most of the names they gave their pups. I always keep the zipper belly mom.

I loved Pound Puppies. Got my first one in 1985 (when they first came out, I guess). He was a gray one with brown spots that looked like a hound dog with long ears. I was 7 years old. I'm almost 38 and I still have him! I had some of the newborns as well, also a huge one and one with a wrinkled face (can't remember what those were called). Wasn't there also a talking Pound Puppy, almost like a Teddy Ruxpin type toy? I remember getting something like that about a year later.

I had one as a kid then got myself 2 more. Turns out my hubby kept his from childhood. Our kids love them. We are now into collecting them. The first one I ever had I named snuggles. It was white with long fur. I took that pup everywhere...as i got older i would sneak her into my pillowcase for sleepovers etc perfect size lol Now they all reside in a tote as I collect them. I recently found 3 mini (3") galoob pups from '96 still in package, and i found a 5" galoob. I have been doing lots of research on pound puppies, one thing i don't get is why the galoob pups don't have the "pp" patch?? Anyone heard about that? They all have tags so they are for sure pound puppies.
