Description
These were huge dolls, boys and girl dolls and they all had names. The back of their heads had a hole so you could put your hand in and make the mouth move. On the back of the hands were pockets so you could slide your fingers in to move it also. Came in removable outfits, with yarn hair.

Aw man! My grandmother bought me this doll for my birthday or some occasion, that exact one, her name was Alexis Rigadoon and she came with overalls. I used to try to have impromptu puppet shows with her, but at night when she was sitting on a chair in my room, I would get paranoid and throw her in the closet because she was so big. LOL

My children loved their Rigadoon Puppets. They started with 2 puppets and in the end had 5. They also had a minature Joe Rigadoon. My son had Joe and Miami Mike and my daughter had one with orange hair, she called her "Patty" but I dont know whether that was the name that she came with. She also had one with yellow hair. We still have Patty, Joe, miniature Joe and Miami Mike.

There was also, Rusty, she had rusty red coloured hair. The little pamphlet that came with them said that Rusty had a crush on Joe. I had joe, he was supposed to be the leader of the pack and the biggest trouble maker. The Rigadoon gang also greeted each other with nose wriggles, where they would press their noses together and wriggle the noses. Our family had four kids and we each had one. Joe, Rusty, Mike, Scoreboard (he was the sporty one). We played them all as siblings. Later on my sisters also got Priscilla and Alexis. I'm not sure how many there were all up. They were fantastic toys, very special.

My cousin had rusty. I got priscilla. Then nanna and poopy went op shopping and garage sale hopping for more and ended up with another two rusty, scoreboard, alexis (which I took)cassie, joe, denise, and another. We would go op shopping for baby clothes for them in size 1-2 that would fit them perfect. I stained priscilla''s chest as she had a "pretend" cold and I rubbed vicks on her! Ooops! She got over her "pretend cold". I still have 3 rigadoons and nanna has many too. I love them. My mums friend took priscilla in a drunk 40th birthday 10 yrs ago and madeher bite mums ear and it turned bright red! Mum let out a shriek as a rigadoon can really bite (depending on who has their hand up the back of their head!)

I had the girl Rigadoon with Yellow hair, yellow shirt and a grey skirt, you have a picture of one in the gallery missing the yellow top, She came with the name "Allison," I bought her with my own pocket money I had saved when I was about 8-9 years old, I still have her and I am 28, unfortunately though, I don't have her original outfit.

Hi check out gangofjoe.blogspot.com/ for more info on rigadoon. Some names of the original gang are on it. And by the way the original gang did not come with ant real rigadoon tatoos on them, the next lot that wre released had the tatoo. So if it looks like a rigadoon, im sure its a real one, tatoo or not.

Hi there all. I don't think mine are the 'original' type that you talk of, I got my sports jersey guy for my 4th birthday. I named him Steve because he had the number 1 on his shirt so I named him after the player who wore number 1 in my fave team. I think my siblings ended up getting jealous so they got some for xmas or something.. My sister had the orange haired girl and named her Cassie My brother had the one with curly red hair and named him Megzy after my uncle who has red hair and his nickname is Megzy.. Still have all 3 of these dolls at home (i'm 22 now) but the red one doesn't have any hair left and I think his original clothes are missing.. how much would they sell for??

There were four boys in the original Rigadoon Gang: Joe (red-headed leader of the gang with red striped shirt, blue jeans & freckles), Miami-Mike (black loopy hair + colourful Miami shirt & Bermuda shorts - white I think!), Dan (brown curly loopy hair + red mouth, with or without red cap sewn on head), Score-board (sandy / dark yellow loopy hair + #1 on his blue 'JOCK' shirt); and three girls: Rusty (long red-brown hair in pigtails or ponytail + denim overalls & yellow shirt - she has a crush on Joe, don't you know!), Alexis (mid-length sandy hair + pink overalls & blue patterned shirt), Priscilla (short pale blonde hair + white – floral patterned party dress). There is also a third version (1994 Fizgig trademark) where the "Real Rigadoon" mark covers most of the hand. They added : Alison (long yellow hair with bright pink & black cap sewn on head or bright pink headband) Denise (short loopy black hair with navy velvet dress, white lace collar & cuffs + bright blue headband) Patti (long orange hair with corduroy skirt & rainbow coloured shirt + rainbow braces) Tanya (long black hair with white shirt/tartan skirt of pinafore - like a school girl/glasses?) I hope this helps All you RIGADOON fanatics. Don't worry...I'm one of them. P.S. I think that these are right but I'm happy to stand corrected.

I always wanted a Rigadoon puppet doll but never had one! One year I asked for one for christmas but only got one of the smaller dolls that is not a puppet. From reading comments above I think she is 'Tanya'. I have been loooking around trying to find one for ages. Anyway, I just bought one off ebay - Rusty - in excellent condition! She was cheap too. I think I now want to buy more and start my own collection. I wish their was more info about them out there! Wonder if they will ever bring them back.... there seems to be a lot of eighties toys being remade these days.

My son who is 21 now, crawled into the big box that Rigadoon was presented in, in either Target or Kmart when he was 3 in Perth WA.He said I really want him, and it looked like Rigadoon was his best friend. So we got Rigadoon and he was my son's best friend night and day when he needed a life size buddy when people couldn't fill the spot.I found Rigadoon today when I was cleaning out the shed. I am so happy that I wrapped him up so carefully. He was cuddly, clean and dressed in one of my twins baby outfit. I haven't seen him in maybe 6 years. I put him on my hip like a little toddler and snuggled him up.He is so special to me too, from the memories and also just the most special little guy. Never has another guy been made like him.

A couple of weeks ago I went to a flea market and lo and behold there were two Rigadoon dolls sitting on a blanket side by side.A boy with orange hair and a red mouth and a girl with long brown pigtails and freckles. My hubby said he has never seen me move as fast as I did that day. I was speechless when I asked the price and the stall holder said 50cents each. I dont know of any other toy with so much character.

I had a Priscilla rigadoon. I was convinced she was haunted and used to make my mum lock her in the boot of the car at night. I hated going in my room if she was there and would never turn my back on her. My mum ended up giving her away to a friend of mine. Kind of wish I'd kept her to find out if she really was haunted or not.

I purchased a Joe and Rusty Large Rigadoon pupppet from the creator/designer at the One of a Kind Craft show in the early 80's. After that Elaine entered into a contract with a toy manufacturer who then mass produced them. These 2 have been handcrafted with love by Elaine, the creator/designer, personally. They are like new and I love them, however, it is time to share them with someone else. If you are interested in seeing them, I will be listing them on e-bay a.s.a.p.

My daughter Leah who will years old in May this year, still has her Rigadoon Joe still in good condition. The funny thing about it is she named him Joe after her granddad Joe who passed away in 1988, she received Joe as a Chrissie present in 1988. It wasn't until about 3 years we discovered that his name was really Joe when we bought him. Her nieces & nephews love him 😇😇

I've had the Joe Rigadoon from when I was 7 (got him in 1990) he's an early one with no marking on his hand, but he is now very very worse for wear (ie unrecognisable really he's been so loved) so just bought a near perfect Rigadoon Joe from Ebay (just a small scan on his shirt) in the US and imported him to me in the UK. Cost me an arm and a leg but getting him I felt like I was 7 again. I'd forgotten how nice Joe was when new!

One of my sons was given Scoreboard for his first birthday in 1988 by my mum. I still have him, and the first generation Miami Mike our daughter fell in love with at a swap meet when she was about 10. Both of them are in their original outfits still. Since then I have accumulated first generation Rusty, Joe, Priscilla and Alexis, but she isn't in her original clothes. There is also a second generation Miami Mike who has his original pants but a replacement shirt. I also have Dan's clothes, but they are on a third generation Rusty. My second generation Rusty is wearing an outfit that belonged to our granddaughter and third generation Scoreboard has recently been dressed up in an outfit I made our granddaughter. Just recently our Granddaughter bought a new outfit for Alison so she was all dressed up to meet her new friend, who I think is named Denise (she should have glasses but they have been lost) We also need to spruce up a Patty who should join us next week I hope. I think that is 13!!! No wonder my husband rolls his eyes. Our little grandsons drag them around, and the two year old has just started to talk to them while the eleven month old just wants Alexis: he pulls her around the floor and lies on her. It's very cute. I think I enjoy their company more than anyone else though.
