Description
It had a remote control and had a little tray. The commercial made it look as he would be your best friend and bring you a nice tropical capri-sun. In reality he lagged on carpet and ate more batteries than my parents were willing to buy.

I had a Robbie robot...if I remember, you could also talk into the remote control so he'd talk, too. He got caught on my carpet. And forget it if your floor wasn't completely flat. He'd get hung up on that, too. But he did bring me goldfish crackers. Only took him...twenty minutes.

I saw one Robbie Robot at Radio Shack. You would put a coin in his hand and pull down on it. His eyes would open wide and he would open his mouth and dump the coin in. Then it looked like he was chewing the coin and then he would lick his lips twice to show that it tasted good to him.

Robie Robot was the best toy I ever owned, I had the big one with a tape player on it. My dad was really curious about how it worked and started toying with it a week before christmas while I was asleep. He acidently set the alarm and I woke up and thought aliens had landed. I ran upstairs and my mom grabed me before I could see what It was. LOL! You could actually record your voice and his moves and play them back to make him seam like he was talking and doing stuff on his own. Realy cool toy, must cost my poor parents allot of money back then. I dont remember how but it broke and my dad tried to fix it but ended up just taking it apart.

my grampa recently sent my 3 year old son a robie robot! He is so cute! Everything works, I dont think its ever really been used, but I cannot figure out all the commands, I know he goes towards you if you want him to follow, but other than that, he just keeps saying "lets go!"

I just dug my RObie out, after about 20 years of being "in storage" (in a box). I noticed that I had left the AA battery in it and the battery acid leaked out. I charged it and put a new AA in, but it still doesn't work. The tab on the negative side broke off. Any suggestions as to how I could fix it? Is it possible that the rechargable battery is no good any more?

I still have my Robie Junior from about 1987. Had to have a battery terminal re-soldered. Other than that it is in perfect condition. Robie Junior cost $179. Back in ‘87. In today’s inflated dollars that equals about $385. A very expensive toy indeed. A well designed and well built toy robot. Worth finding and having repaired. Love it.
