Instead of cubes, it was a square piece of plastic which had rings printed on them that you had to re-organize.

I've owned two of these things in my life, and they both broke not long after I got them. I'd still buy a third, though. Something about this toy appeals to me, I guess

I have all three of these: the original, the Master Edition (5 rings instead of 3) and the Create the Cube edition. I'm afraid to play with them anymore due to the age of the connecting strings but they do bring a smile to my face when I unearth them from time to time.

I never figured it out, but it made a great chaise lounge for my action figures. I finally folded it into a position I have never been able to unfold it from.

Had this toy when I was 8. Could always solve 1 side, but not the other.

I broke mine fresh out of the box on Christmas morning in 1988. Broke the strings that held it together.

I had this toy in kindergarten, it was awesome, until my friend Donny broke it in about 30 seconds at Show and Tell turned into Show and Hell...thanks Donny

Like someone else said, mine broke within a day of getting it. That was disappointing to say the least.
