Description
I remember one toy called "Sandy Seaweed". She had a sponge lily pad, and a comb for her long hair and she was a mermaid.. I think she also had a friend named "Coral" which had a lily pad too. The later versions came with babies.

I have the fondest memories of Sandy Seaweed! My sisters' and I had about four or five of them. They came in many different hair and fin color combinations. They made bath time so mch fun! I've been looking everywhere to get another! Where did they all go?!?

Yes! I had one of these, it came with a sponge and a little sea horse doll or pet, and then a little baby mermaid, and they had holes in the sponge for them to float on. Where are these toys? I can't even find an old photo. Who made these back then? There has got to be a photo or image somewhere. There has got to be one of these dolls somewhere out there. I LOVED these dolls!

They're called Sandy SeaWees by Kenner, actually, and they are pretty rare. Can find a few of the later toys on Ebay, but I haven't found much. .. Unfortunately. I had that whole floating shell raft/shower thing, coral and sandy. I just saw shelly and some of the later ones on Ebay. Try searching sandy seawee or sea-wee... I'm really bored at work... http://search.ebay.com/sea-wee

Another toy I couldn't remember the name of. :) I had the blue mermaid/sponge kit. She had babies, and I think a pet of some sort? I might be able to find her, but I'm sure the sponge is long gone.

Oh my gosh! My little sister and I had so many of them! We loved playing with them at bath time! I remember my mom throwing them out after awhile b.c they'd get funky with the water sitting in the lily pad. I am hoping someone has a pic of them, they really need to go back in market!

Such great memories! My sister and I even had a pink seashell case with a handle that you could store them all in. We were 14 when we sold them to a neighbor girl at a yardsale, I'll have to hold on to my daughters' favorites!

Yeah, these are Seawees. I had Sandy and her baby. They had pink tails and blonde hair, but there were others. Some had babies, and some had pets. Sandy had a lilypad that had two holes, one for her and one for her baby. I loved playing with mine in the swimming pool. I think my Sandy is still at my grandparents' house, probably in my old playhouse.

I have 6 Sandy Seaweeds. The three in the above picture plus a sandy blond with a blond streak, one with pink hair and another brunette. All have babies and combs. Love them. Does anyone know the names of the last 3?

I had the red-haired Sandy See Wee! A favorite bath toy of mine from late 70's early 80's. I turn 35 in a few weeks and can still remember the name sandy sea wee.

I loved these dolls and was fortunate that 2 sets survived my childhood. They are both the tropical versions - blue and green haired. I am almost afraid to let my daughter play with them! Grin! I wish toy companies would make more toys like these - instead of the mermaid toys that are out there and look like fish hookers.

I still have mine. It's the blonde one! I don't have the sponge anymore though. Even if I did it would probably be all crusty by now anyway.

Oh! How nice it is to see my beloved see weeds again! I had a whole bag of them I had kept from my childhood and now I cannot find them. I would pay to have a few of them again. Seeing them brings back so many memories and gives me a sense of calmness to see them again. It is wonderful to see I am not alone in loving them so. Thank you for having this page available.

My sister and I had Sand The Sea wee Dolls! We played with them in our bath tub! The dills had little babies and a mini brush that came with a green Lilly pad sponge that the doll floated on! This toy is my favorite childhood memory of my sister and I.. My sister passed at 32 years old of cancer.. Before she passed we wanted to find a Sandy sea wee doll but unfortunately she passed before I had a chance. I would love to get a couple of these Sandy dolls to show my daughter! Than you for making a Doll that has so many memories that are special to my family and I!!
