Description
A pretty little mermaid-like doll with long hair (They came with different hair colors)You could take them in the bathtub with you.I believe they came with a little pastel-colored spongy float you could set them in. Sea Wees were mermaids with long Barbie hair. They came with a Sea Wee child, that was smaller and had painted-on short hair. They had names like Stormy, Sandy, and Coral. I think there were 4. The lagoon was a large seashell that came with a floating seahorse and some other stuff. They were made by Kenner.

See Wees were a series of mermaid dolls that came out starting in 1979 to 1984. This website (http://members.tripod.com/~seawee/seawees.html) has tons of info and pictures. I loved that they came with a lilypad sponge that had holes for the mermaid and her friend...and it would actually float in the bathtub. I have tons of them still, including the originals. I also had a playset that was a big seashell that had a place to stand one up...I think that one either floated or would suction to the wall of the bathtub.

I wish I still had my Sea Wees! I miss them. I've looked on eBay and I've seen them selling for over $45 a piece! That's good old 80's style inflation for you! lol

I just came across this because I was trying to remember what the little baby mermaid figurine that I carried around in my pocket all the time was called. I really don't remember them being called Sea Wees, but I am glad that I know what they are called now. I had the little aqua blue one alone with alittle peliqin as well. I played with those two alot in and out of the tub.

I had 2 Seawees with the babies and animals. I had the one with yellow and white hair and the other had green and white hair. I've only got the one with the green and white hair now. Not sure what happened to the other ones or the lilypads.

I was real little when these first came out- I'm now nearly 35.I had the red head with the teal body and sponge lily pad. She was a cute doll with pretty face.I didn't have her long before her hair became all tangled. Later on when the See wees came out with babies/pets I felt jipped!I remember buying her at a "Clover" store in PA. If they brought them back my 6yr.daughter would like them. She tells me all the time how I had better toys- than what they make now.
