My friend two doors down had one it took about six months for the rest of the neighborhood found out about it. It was awesome having an alternative to nintendo. Joe Montana football and Altered Beast were killer.

I have two of these now . My bro had one growing up and we LOVED it. Our favorite games were X-Men, The Golden Axe, and Altered Beast. I have X-men and Golden Axe again. LOL. I guess I'm like Peter Pan, I never want to grow up.

I think Sega came out in the 80's, then Sega Genesis in the VERY early 90's. I still have my Genesis at home. Golden Axe, Earthworm Jim, Echo the Dolphin, Kid Chameleon, Rampart, Joe Montana Sorts Talk Football...I still have them and they still work! And the X-Men game where you had to actually reset the game to keep going...that was AWSOME! I wish they'd do something like that in these new games...make people get up off the couch!

I got this the year it came out. I only had two games. soncic that came with it and the simpsons vs the aliens or something like that. I never really cared for it. I had the hand held that came out too that took only batteries and died fast. Id rather have my nintendo back.

Wanted one! Never got it! I had an Atari when I was VERY small, then went console-less until the NES came out. Heaven! But then we learned the brutal lesson of technology that is common knowledge now (but it was new then): Whatever YOU bought is obsolete and you must now upgrade. Only we never did. We skipped Super Nintendo,N64,Game Cube, Genesis, Saturn,Dreamcast,ALL that and went straight from NES to PS2. The shames of childhood...but man,Sonic was cool.

I still have my Genesis somewhere, and still play it. Sonic 3 & Knuckles is one of the best platformers ever.

Ah. The cornerstone of my childhood elitism. And we all knew it was better than the SNES because it had "Blast Processing". To this day, nobody knows what the hell "Blast Processing" is or what it meant... But we knew it made it BETTER. Oh, and Mortal Kombat had blood, unlike the sissified SNES. So, you know. We were better people for owning it.

I turned the Genesis down because I have a PS3 gaming system. The PS3 is #1. I usually play Golden Axe: Beast Rider on it because mine had Blu-ray Disc capability. Oh, and Sonic would run the fastest when he comes alive by power of the Cell Broadband Engine.

The Genesis was $190 when first released in 1989, known best for the 16-bit graphics. Successor to the 1986 Master System, which was 8-bit. On game that really gave you your money's worth was "Shove-It the Warehouse Game," with 160 box-arrangement puzzles, divided up into 16 different buildings (stages). With getting passwords every 10 levels, this made finishing the game easier.

The Genesis came out in 1989, long before PS3. Moron
