Attach it your ankle and swing it around and jump to avoid it slamming into your ankles. It even had a counter installed in the newer models.

After months of begging, my mother gave in and bought me one. It broke almost immediately. I loved playing with other girls' skip its on the playground though.

I had a bright pink Skip-It with a counter on the side of the ball, also had dollar store knock offs, little plastic ball attached to a rubber or plastic cord with a plastic ring, basically same idea just the skip-it people were first to be smart and market them! lol

I can't tell you how many times I bruised my shins with one of these.

I remember getting so angry when i counted how many times i jumped but the counter didn't count them all... Ohhh the days when a broken counter was the worst thing in the world!

I think I had a Skip-It or it might have been my sister's. I liked the Pogo Ball better.

Skip-it, Skip-It.. The very best thing of all, theres a count-ter on this ball. Something beat your very best score, something something and a whole lot more! Loved it. I had a yellow one. Sara, how on earth did you bruise your shins with a skip it???

I still know the whole song. Hey now kids come gather round. Look what just skipped into town. It would have been the perfect luring device for child predators.

When I was a kid my sister and I had Lemon Twists (before the counters). I loved mine. Why don't they still make these?

I grew up in the 70's, and Skip-it started out as just a lemon shape with no counter at all haha..But I definitly remember those and hula hoops.
Amanda - May 09, 2008 - Report this comment
I had a red one with a counter. It might still be hanging around my parents house somewhere. Skip-its and jump ropes definately took up 4th and 5th grade recess.

I wish I had the mad skills to skip it. I was so jealous of the girls who had them...especially the pink ones. I finally bought one at a garage sale when I was in college and I secretly practice every chance I get.
Ann - May 14, 2008 - Report this comment
I had a pink one. I bought my little cousin a yellow one (an original one like mine) from a thrift store. She just didn't get it. I wonder if she still has the thing. I'll just have to take it back from her.

Skip its are awesome. My friend and I were just talking about it today. And I need one now! I used to play all the time a recess and i was tied for like best in the grade and the other girl always used to cheat and make us to redos because there was a crack... we are best friends now, but back then it was very serious.

;.; Best toy EVER. I grew up in the 90s, but I was lucky enough to get my hands on one of these babies and I played with it until the cows came home, man!! I remember I'd play for HOURS. D: I dunno about you, but I think they should reintroduce this toy!! Looking back on it, it was a GREAT workout!! @__@ Augh, I still remember the jingle that went with it!! XD "Skip-it! Skip-it good!!"

At toys r us they have the skip it: ribbon streamer and the skip it: charms and stickers. I had to go buy one (I'm on this "childhood toys" kick) BUT THEY GOT RID OF "THE VERY BEST THING OF ALL!!!" -there's not a counter on this ball. . .so I can't try to beat my very best score and I can't see if I can jump a whole lot more!!!
amy r - August 22, 2008 - Report this comment
