I loved Strawberry Shortcake. I even used to have one of the villians-Sour Grape or something like that. They all smelled berry good.

I had many different Strawberry Shortcake things from dolls to small plastic figurines ( I still have the lemon scented one though she's missing a leg), Memory game which I got 2 of, match cards, and even a Lamp which was about 6 inches high and as big around as a softball. It was strawberry shaped with small holes cut out in the shape of seeds. The door was partially open and had Strawberry Shortcake standing near the door with her dog. I LOVED this stuff!!!!

I loved these so i was so excited to see new ones being made UNTIL I smelled them. She smelled nothing like the original and that ruined it for me. Just couldn't buy her then. Oddly enough what does smell like her is a koosh-like ball you can win at Chuck E Cheese.

I loved Strawberry Shortcake too! I was a little older at the time so I was mainly a collector. I still have 10 dolls all in the original boxes! I also have about 50 of the little miniatures that were put out and believe it or not, they all still have their scent. So fun!

yeah, I don't like the new ssc either. It looks nothing like her. what was wrong with the old one? She's even got new friends too, right?
Kelly - August 30, 2007 - Report this comment
Most of my Strawberry Shortcake dolls were my sister's old ones. We had the big strawberry case and I had lots of PVC miniatures too. I also remember the "Country Jamboree" book and tape. I loved it and I want to find it again. The new SSC is so butt-ugly.

I had a passion for Strawberry Shortcake. I got my first one when I was in kindergarten...one of the first generation, with flat hands and before they started including the pets with the dolls. So, I had Strawberry Shortcake and Huckleberry Pie, of the first generation. I also had Lemon Meringue, Apricot, Butter Cookie, Cherry Cuddler and Cafe' Ole'. I also had the infamous huge strawberry carry case, the merry go round, garden house and tricycle. Being that I was the 4th and youngest of the kids, I was used to hand me down toys, but looking back, I never had a hard time talking my parents into another SSC doll! I still have all of them, but after being played with so much, they don't look as good as they used to!

My entire bedroom was in strawberry shortcake. I had the furniture meaning the REAL furniture. I had the desk, toybox, bed, all the dolls, the scented dolls, the high chairs.... everything. I loved it sooo much. I collected it again about ten years ago but ended up selling it to someone in CA for a great amount of money to finance my divorce, I so regret that now. I LOVE IT! If I had a bigger house, I would do it again.

I still have Strawberry, Apricot, Blueberry muffin, Lemon Meringue and Apple Dumplin...I'm so glad my mom kept this stuff for me..now my 4 year old plays with them along with the new ones of today. I've also given her my old Holly Hobbie dolls, Herself the Elf, Glamour Gals and Dazzel Dolls... she uses these with her Polly Pockets. Thanks mom!!!

I was really into these dolls. I will never forget being a three year old and yanking a whole shelf full down in a toy store, in a moment of terrible-toddler rage! My mother was mortified. My parents were not well-off, so I never got berry many. LOL

Next to Care Bears, Strawberry Shortcake was my favorite. I had the collectible minatures that smelled, the doll house, the collectors house, a strawberry shortcake rag doll and the baby that blew strawberry scented kisses. Anyone remember that one?

I had a Strawberry Shortcake doll. I made a mistake one night and took her to the bath with me...one of her legs went down the drain along with the water...(sob)...I had to put her to rest and I haven't been the same since.

My husband had the Purple Pie Man when he was little. Several years ago he bought another one, mint in box on ebay. It's so cool! I should buy a Strawbery Shortcake doll to go with it.

I never cared for the dolls being male, but I did have the dog, Pupcake. I remember getting him at Kay Bee Toys. I had some money but I couldn't find anything I liked. Mom kept pointing to Pupcake "There's a dog, you like dogs" I think she was just trying to get me out of there. I kept resisting because it was associated with dolls. Finally I gave in and went home with him. I'm glad I did. I remember really liking him once I got him. Good old pupcake.

I loved SSC and all the dolls from pre2000. There are still some cute dolls out there today, but I've noticed quite a few of the post2000 dolls look like they could slide down a pole give a grown man a strip a strip-tease!
Retronut - October 28, 2009 - Report this comment
I think dolls today are rather disgusting. Judging by the comment above mine, I believe someone else agrees. I mean, look at the Bratz dolls. U-G-L-Y, you ain't got no alibi, you UGLY! Now Strawberry Shortcake was a girl's doll. Petit, pretty, feminine without any hint of flaunting sexuality. She looked as pretty as she smelled. It's rare to find something like this anymore unless you look in the baby toy aisle.

I hate the new SSC dolls. They just aren't as cute as they used to be. I really wish they would start making them look like they used to! They all smelled so good. I still remember those amazing scents. My favorite was Butter Cookie and her pet, Jelly Bear. I also loved Apricot, Huckleberry, Blueberry, Orange, and of course Strawberry. They don't smell quite the same anymore, either.

I was wondering if anyone can tell me the name of the doll that had the purple skunk as a pet. It's driving me nuts that I can't remember it. Thanks.

You probably wouldn't catch me sniffing a baby doll now, however, the Strawberry and the blueberry ones were a great sniffing thang back in the day.

I actually didn't like the SS dolls. They all smelled more plastic than fragrance, sort of like if you'd left a waxy air freshner on the dashboard in the sun and it melted....
Danielle - July 06, 2016 - Report this comment
I used to have the 2000s dolls until I saw Cherry Cuddler in a book and became interested in the 1980s dolls. Now I have practically all except three of the dolls, and two vinyl records. Come to think of it Strawberry Shortcake was the first "magical girl"-type show before Japanese anime was well-known in the US.
