My poor talking Alf eventually got to where even batteries wouldn't help. It got to where you had to give him CPR to make him talk, and his voice was gargled.

They had one of these at my grandfather's house, I used to play with him every time we went to visit. He was pretty rad :)

My brothers talking ALF didn't have a pull string, it was just a voice box in his tummy - which when you pressed his tummy he talked. We've got it laying around here somewhere, I'll see if I can dig it out and get a photo of it.

The planet Melmac! "Ha! I kill me!" Remember when Burger King or A&W or someone had Alf puppets?

I got an Alf Doll when I was like 3. I thought it was the best thing ever. I carried that thing around so much until there was nothing hardly left of him, except his voice box. My brother and I LOVED that show. Our dad would let us stay up and watch the show. We would laugh at ALF until we almost peed ourselves. I was fortunate enough to catch a few episodes on TV here lately, and I still crack up!! WOW what great memories!!

I hated Alf! I always thought he had an attitude problem on the show and he had a weird looking nose.Just plain ugly

Actually there were two different versions of the talking Alf. One was the one with the voice box that talked when you squeezed him. The other was an animatronic Teddy Ruxpin style Alf that told stories. I actually have that one around here somewhere.

I recently came across one of these and bought it. He turns on and the red light comes on and everything, but where do I press him to get him to start talking and moving? Any suggestions?

Hi, I recently received a original 1987 Talking ALF. The talking mechanism seems to be located in his head, as his body, arms and feet are all soft. My question now is how do I replace the batteries? I have looked all over and cant find a place to open him and replace batteries. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Werner did you figure it out. There's a flap in the back.if its the teddy Ruxpin type the box is hard. If the squish type, it's small. Pull it out and unscrew battery cover. My Ruxpin type does not move anymore. Anyone know how to repair? Gbtv@comcast.net

I still have mine, In fact it's in perfect condition since I've had since 2001. Only thing is he doesn't speak anymore. My favorite line was " HERE! KITTY KITTY KITTY! and LET'S FIND A SNACK! YOU GOT A CAT?"
