Description
Similar to the talking big bird, a talking Mother Goose came out in the 80s. Upon inserting a cassette tape into the fur-covered, hard white body, Mother Goose would recite a story, moving her lips, while children read along in an accompanying book. Mother Goose was all white and wore a bonnet. She was about the height of talking big bird when he was sitting down. Later, a smaller version of talking Mother Goose came on the market.

I totally still have this! It's sitting up in the closet of our spare room. I used the books more than the goose...she kind of scared me a little. I would read the books teacher-style to my stuffed animals & dolls, showing them the pictures when I finished a page, haha.

I loved this thing to death! I used the books more as well. Still, this was a really fun toy!

I loved it and I want one. I had the Mother Goose and the chick and I used to have it read me a bedtime story when I was little. It was at my grandma's house in a closet. She told me to get it out and I never did. Unfortunately her house burnt down last year and it was lost.

I have my Mother Goose at home and still in perfect condition. My Mum gave it to me when I was little and am now 25. I'm looking to complete the series I have of books and tapes to pass down to my daughter if I have one, or a niece. If anyone knows where I can get these please let me know. Thanks

My mom just recently cleaned out her attic and found my Talking Mother Goose which is in great condition.I was saddened to see though that her head, beak and eyes don't move anymore.Hope to maybe find a link where i can fix this. She was a Christmas gift from my grandma years ago so it means alot to me.

Mother Goose and Hector taught me to read! My father used to put in the cassette and give me the corresponding book to look at...he thought I was just looking at the pictures but I eventually figured out that the written words were the same as those being spoken by Mother Goose. Were my parents ever surprised to hear me reading the book aloud to them one night!

I also have a Mother Goose and Hector, but my mother goose isn't working anymore. Apparently, you are not supposed to store them in attics, because the heat messes them up. I found a site where they can be sent off to be repaired. www.dreeyorehospital.net for anyone else who has the same problem.

I recently found my daughter's Mother Goose, which I gave her for her first Christmas in 1988... she loved it and still does, but Mother Goose seems to have a broken neck and where the batteries were it has rusted a bit.. I am so sad but I want to either have it repaired or would love to know if I am able to buy one from someone in Australia..

Hey Rita My mother goose I got in xmas 88 I think also.. It also has a broken neck (which we doctored together with some ribbon like a bandage) and there is rust in the battery compartment. As far as I know it still works, just needs batteries. I only ever had the ugly duckling story and tape and loved it to death. Would love to buy some more..
