Description
I used to love these. They were simple LCD screen games, all of which were tied in to some existing video game or character. They had a few kinds that talked as well.

My mother bought me one of these things when we were coming back from Easter break. I had a bowling LCD game.

These were really popular back in the day. One kid I knew had like 15 of them. The sports ones were considered the lower of the bunch, while ninja gaiden and castlevania meant you had it going on :P

Technically I only had a Little Mermaid one (that I beat over & over gain) cuz my mom wouldn't buy me the ones that were "for boys." But my cousin would give me his after he got tired of them so I got to play them anyway :) He also gave me a Ninja Turtles one that wasn't shaped like those in the picture at all...it was green & sort of long-ish. There's a picture of it here: http://www.retrogames.co.uk/stock/assets/images/HH_-_Teenage_mutant_ninja_turtles.jpg [and you can search for a video of it on youtube too!]

How many of these were there? Might have to look into that. I had Double Dragon and Ninja Gaiden, and baseball. Enjoyed the baseball the most. These were ntohing compared to nintendo's game and watch games though...

I asked for a Game Boy and my mother gave me three of these: Football, Baseball and Double Dragon. These things looked NOTHING like real life. LOL

I have always loved handheld video games, and I ate these things up! I pretty much never left home without my Street Fighter II handheld! I also had the bowling one, though I had completely forgotten about it until reading the first few comments. I think the lamest one I had was a "Beauty and the Beast" one, where you played as Belle and literally just had to hide behind a wall when the Beast walked by. That was the gameplay.
