These trolls were so ugly that they were cute! If it weren't for the hair, they wouldn't be cute at all! I had a few of them until my mom banned them from the house. She said that the trolls were like little demons (since trolls are associated with evil in fairy tales).

Fourth grade baby! Everyone had trolls. I eventually got a plush troll doll. Sadly when we moved all of my trolls got lost in the move and I only have my troll doll left.

these were all the rage when i was in 3rd grade, but like many of you, my mom banned them saying they were demons, and the didn't want anything satanic in her house. i thought she was insane, so it's nice to see i wasn't the only one with a mother of that opinion. funny thing is, now that i have 2 kids of my own, i wouldn't want those things in my house either.

TROLL HORROR STORY: My aunt gave me a huge farmer troll, about as tall as a Barbie, complete with pitchfork. Yes, an effing PITCHFORK. WTF!?! It scared the hell out of me! I'd seen quite a few horror killer-doll movies & I was paranoid...so I purposely left it out in the living room. There was no way in HELL I was sleeping with that pitchfork-wielding thing in my room! And guess what happened? Woke up in the morning & BAM THERE IT WAS on my bookshelf looking at me! The next week or so nearly drove me insane, as I tried hiding it, throwing it away, etc...but it would always somehow end up back in my room. Thankfully I found out that my mom was the one who kept putting it back in my room at night after I went to bed. She thought I had actually liked it & just kept misplacing it while playing with it. I promptly told her how I really felt & how many nightmares it caused me. FINALLY, Mr. Pitchfork met his doom at the dumpster.

I miss my treasure trolls. When I was 7 I got a dollar every week for a allowance and every two weeks I'd buy a pack of four until I had about forty of them. They were only about a inch tall and they had cloths on that was part of the molding. I kept real good care of them and played with them all the time until my lil sister and nephews got ahold of them and ripped off the hair and jewels. Now I'd do anything to get some again.

I had a big troll collection and still have a handful of them today. My favorites are the babies. My mom hated buying them for me when I was young because she thought they were so ugly lol.

Trolls were fourth grade for me too. I had an absurd number of them, including a 1 foot tall "life size" troll, the tiny pencil topper ones, and I actually made a porcelain one with my aunt who was into doll making at the time. It died in the Northridge earthquake, but I made a companion one for my best friend and she still has hers.

I hate troll dolls. They scare the hell out of me. I had this dream once that they took over my house and i got them for christmas instead of a baby born. Burn them all i say, demonic little things.

I have just recently started a troll blog of my own personal collection of trolls. I'd love it if my fellow troll lovers would come and check it out. I update fairly frequently and would love it if you would become a follower. Feel free to comment as well. Thanks! http://justtrollingaround.blogspot.com/

My GF told me that when she was little she wanted some trolls for christmas. Her stepmother said they were evil and she couldn't have them. I thought I would find her some and surprise her for her first christmas as a mother. She is 26 now so can anyone tell me the namebrand back then and if there was like a cupid one or a mother and child set? Thanks
jadedoz - November 10, 2010 - Report this comment
@ Robby, Russ were a popular brand of trolls. They di dhave cupid ones back in the day, because I remember having a cupid troll pencil and still have a cupid troll ring by russ.

Actually, the first troll dolls were made by Norfin in the late 50s early 60s. They have double horseshoes on the bottoms of their feet. Huss and Galoob made most of the newer ones.
Jan Griffiths - February 24, 2011 - Report this comment
OOPS!! Typo... I meant Russ, not Huss.
Sarah - September 27, 2011 - Report this comment
I wasn't allowed to have trolls growing up because my parents said they were inappropriate :( I don't know what they would do if they saw the toys kids play with now!
Jan Griffiths - April 03, 2012 - Report this comment
What was inappropriate about them? The only thing they showed was a "vertical smile" in the back.
