Description
It was a town that suctioned-cupped to the side of your bath tub. It had a little elevator and shower, etc. It looked like a little seaside apartment, I guess. It came with 4 figurines. This is a super cool site you have here! Thanks for the trip down memory lane!

Oh my gosh! I am 27 and have done nothing but talk about this toy lately. I kept asking my mom, "remember that little house thing that suction cupped to the side of the tub and there was a little dining hall?" She was actually the one who remember the name of it was Tub Town. We have been Googling for hours and can't find a pic. Earlier today she came across a photo from when I was three years old and in the background was my Tub Town. I think mine got thrown out when my younger sister peeled the stickers off the room walls *cries* I can't believe there aren't any on e-bay or Craig's List! Rock on fellow 20-something years old Tub Town lovers!

OMG...I dont know why I thought of my Tub Town bath set today, but I so wish there was a pic to have that much more of a memory, I remember the dock, the elevator, the people, the lifesavers...I took my tub town people to the beach one day and decided to burry them, and never found them...So I guess my mom fig to throw out the tub town set, since the people, and the boat were gone...I LOVED that thing, and i want to buy one soooo bad!!!! LOL
Heather - September 16, 2007 - Report this comment
That is so funny....this too was one of my favorite toys. I only remembered the shower, but thanks to the discriptions on this page I was able to remember the elevator and such. This is awsome....LONG LIVE THE 80s!!!

Wasn't there two different Tub Towns? I remember this one, but I think my brother had a different one that was maybe made for babies. It had a water wheel on it (like a paddle boat) and a mirror I think.
Julie - October 29, 2007 - Report this comment
There were two Tub Towns that I know of. I had the original, as shown in photo, and I think it was Tub Town Circus. I loved, loved, loved Tub Town. Both the kinds I had were so fun and great for imaginative play. I don't remember the details of either, but I know I had two versions.

I remember when I bought a Tub Town for my son over twenty years ago. They were hard to find even back then. Sad to say, but I think I bought it more for me than my son. Has anybody contacted the company about putting the original back into production?
Chris - January 10, 2008 - Report this comment
My little brother had one and he LOVED it!! He played with it for years until the suction cups wouldn't stick anymore and the pieces got lost. Then my mom threw it away. It was the CUTEST toy!! Why do we moms do that? I'd love for my toddler to have one!
Jen - January 17, 2008 - Report this comment
Ohh, thank goodness I was an only child and had a mom who made me keep all of my retro toys!! I had tub town (just like the 1 pictured above) and I still have it and ALL of the pieces that goes with it! This too was my favorite toy and I was just thinking if anyone else knew if it because it doesn't seem to be available anywhere. My daughter is now 11 mos and loving bath time so I think i'll soon be introducing her to the land of tub town. I don't know if this generation will like it as much as us kids of the 80's...now adays it has to light up and play music for the kids to like it ;(

We too (best friends for 23 years) are reminiscing about our favorite childhood toys of tubtown...although the pic at the top doesn't look like what we remember, but then again, we were like 3. Hopefully someday we will find another tubtown. Good luck to everyone.

I can't believe there are this many people who feel the same way I do about Tub Town. This is crazy! I'm 26 and I have a 2 year old. I recently asked my dad about the toy that I had in the bath etc etc. and he knew right off the bat what I was talking about. I couldn't believe he remembered the name of it. Why is this so hard to find? Somebody should reinvent Tub Town even though it could never be as cool as ours was. Alicia

Oh. My. God. i honestly thought this was one of those random toys that nobody else would have ever heard of. i had this when i was little, and i would sit for hours in the bathtub (ok so it felt like hours) and shrivel up like a prune playing with my tubtown. i don't have the actual town thing anymore but i have the little people. i named them weird names too.. as a 2 year old would. this was a GREAT toy! nothing like it out there now.

I contacted Funrise, the original maker of Tub Town and they had this to say: Thank you for contacting Funrise Toys and for your interest in Tub Town. The Tub Town toys from the past have been discontinued. However there are plans for a new line of Tub Town toys in the near future. You can watch for them to appear at your local store soon. If you have any other questions, please do not hesitate to contact us again. Thanks, Sue Customer Service Representative

My thanks to all of you who wrote in about TubTown. I was so disappointed when I realized that I couldn't find a Main Street TubTown to buy for my new grandson. But after reading all of your comments about the fun you used to have with it, I decided to dig around in an old toybox to see if I kept the one that my own girls used to love. Sure enough....there it was....in the original box....and all of the pieces too! I'm going to clean it up and have it ready when my grandson is here the next time! And I owe it all to you!

Tub Town was the most fun ever! I had the tub town and tub town Sea Circus, which came with a little whale and dolphin. When I was too old to play with bath tub toys, my mom gave them to her best friend, for her son to play with. Now that I would like to have a tub town for my own children, the only Tub Town to be found is one that looks so lame, and unimaginative, I have no interest in purchasing it. Why do all toys these days look like they are manufactured for idiots? I wish the toy companies would step up their game, or just put the old Tub Town in production again!
SZA - December 09, 2008 - Report this comment
I know what you mean, Sarah. I think toys are definitely not as high quality these days as they used to be. They're bigger and flashier, but also of MUCH cheaper material and they break way too easily and are NOT made to last, like the toys of our generation. I think toy manufacturers do it on purpose, to get us to purchase more. As grandparents, we won't be able to rely on the toys our kids used to entertain our grandbabies - we'll have to buy all new toys.

This was the only toy that made me want to bathe. I'm 31 and hated bathing, but with tubtown, I knew it was going to be fun. My brother and I took hour long baths every day, just adventuring with the tubtown people and having them fighting sharks and other plastic creatures. I want one (I still hate showering).

What happened to Lakeside Toys, the people who manufactured this gem of a toy as well as Perfection, and barrel o' monkeys? And why did the ever so lame Funrise Toys buy the patent for Tubtown, only to drop the ball so ineptly?
