Description
It was a town that suctioned-cupped to the side of your bath tub. It had a little elevator and shower, etc. It looked like a little seaside apartment, I guess. It came with 4 figurines. This is a super cool site you have here! Thanks for the trip down memory lane!

Oh my gosh! I am 27 and have done nothing but talk about this toy lately. I kept asking my mom, "remember that little house thing that suction cupped to the side of the tub and there was a little dining hall?" She was actually the one who remember the name of it was Tub Town. We have been Googling for hours and can't find a pic. Earlier today she came across a photo from when I was three years old and in the background was my Tub Town. I think mine got thrown out when my younger sister peeled the stickers off the room walls *cries* I can't believe there aren't any on e-bay or Craig's List! Rock on fellow 20-something years old Tub Town lovers!

OMG...I dont know why I thought of my Tub Town bath set today, but I so wish there was a pic to have that much more of a memory, I remember the dock, the elevator, the people, the lifesavers...I took my tub town people to the beach one day and decided to burry them, and never found them...So I guess my mom fig to throw out the tub town set, since the people, and the boat were gone...I LOVED that thing, and i want to buy one soooo bad!!!! LOL
Heather - September 16, 2007 - Report this comment
That is so funny....this too was one of my favorite toys. I only remembered the shower, but thanks to the discriptions on this page I was able to remember the elevator and such. This is awsome....LONG LIVE THE 80s!!!

Wasn't there two different Tub Towns? I remember this one, but I think my brother had a different one that was maybe made for babies. It had a water wheel on it (like a paddle boat) and a mirror I think.
Julie - October 29, 2007 - Report this comment
There were two Tub Towns that I know of. I had the original, as shown in photo, and I think it was Tub Town Circus. I loved, loved, loved Tub Town. Both the kinds I had were so fun and great for imaginative play. I don't remember the details of either, but I know I had two versions.

My little brother had one and he LOVED it!! He played with it for years until the suction cups wouldn't stick anymore and the pieces got lost. Then my mom threw it away. It was the CUTEST toy!! Why do we moms do that? I'd love for my toddler to have one!

Ohh, thank goodness I was an only child and had a mom who made me keep all of my retro toys!! I had tub town (just like the 1 pictured above) and I still have it and ALL of the pieces that goes with it! This too was my favorite toy and I was just thinking if anyone else knew if it because it doesn't seem to be available anywhere. My daughter is now 11 mos and loving bath time so I think i'll soon be introducing her to the land of tub town. I don't know if this generation will like it as much as us kids of the 80's...now adays it has to light up and play music for the kids to like it ;(

I can't believe there are this many people who feel the same way I do about Tub Town. This is crazy! I'm 26 and I have a 2 year old. I recently asked my dad about the toy that I had in the bath etc etc. and he knew right off the bat what I was talking about. I couldn't believe he remembered the name of it. Why is this so hard to find? Somebody should reinvent Tub Town even though it could never be as cool as ours was. Alicia

Oh. My. God. i honestly thought this was one of those random toys that nobody else would have ever heard of. i had this when i was little, and i would sit for hours in the bathtub (ok so it felt like hours) and shrivel up like a prune playing with my tubtown. i don't have the actual town thing anymore but i have the little people. i named them weird names too.. as a 2 year old would. this was a GREAT toy! nothing like it out there now.

The Tub Town toys from the past have been discontinued. However there are plans for a new line of Tub Town toys in the near future. You can watch for them to appear at your local store soon. If you have any other questions, please do not hesitate to contact us again. Thanks, Sue Customer Service Representative

My thanks to all of you who wrote in about TubTown. I was so disappointed when I realized that I couldn't find a Main Street TubTown to buy for my new grandson. But after reading all of your comments about the fun you used to have with it, I decided to dig around in an old toybox to see if I kept the one that my own girls used to love. Sure enough....there it was....in the original box....and all of the pieces too! I'm going to clean it up and have it ready when my grandson is here the next time! And I owe it all to you!

Tub Town was the most fun ever! I had the tub town and tub town Sea Circus, which came with a little whale and dolphin. When I was too old to play with bath tub toys, my mom gave them to her best friend, for her son to play with. Now that I would like to have a tub town for my own children, the only Tub Town to be found is one that looks so lame, and unimaginative, I have no interest in purchasing it. Why do all toys these days look like they are manufactured for idiots? I wish the toy companies would step up their game, or just put the old Tub Town in production again!
SZA - December 09, 2008 - Report this comment
I know what you mean, Sarah. I think toys are definitely not as high quality these days as they used to be. They're bigger and flashier, but also of MUCH cheaper material and they break way too easily and are NOT made to last, like the toys of our generation. I think toy manufacturers do it on purpose, to get us to purchase more. As grandparents, we won't be able to rely on the toys our kids used to entertain our grandbabies - we'll have to buy all new toys.

Tub Town is the best! My kids would sit in the tub until the water was cold and their teeth were chattering. Nothing took them away from Tub Town. I remember I would have to pull the plug and they'd still sit there playing. I can't understand why a replica is made. All of the 20-30 somethings would definitely buy it for their kids. I m having my first child in 5 months and one night at dinner with my in laws I brought up a great toy for a child would be Tub Town. Well they looked at me like I was crazy and at that moment I realized how random that was, but all of a sudden I described the thing to a T having such a vivid picture of it in my mind. Well I shut them up, but it left me feeling empty afterwards and I felt compelled to find one on the internet. And this is how I ended up here my fellow Tub Town friends. I just googled Funrise & found they are making a new tub town...they have a boy & girl version!! It's not exactly like we remember but it will have to do! :) It says they are sold in Walmart, etc....so it's just a matter of finding it!

My in-laws gave us a box of my husband's toys from when he was a kid for our three year old son to use. Tub Town was in the box and it's the only thing our son wants to play with in the bath. There's only one figurine left and he still has tons of fun with it.

I just found out what this toy is called tonight only to find out I missed the ebay listing by mere hours/minutes! I'm 33 and LOVED this toy. I have been thinking off it off and on for YEARS. I have a 15 month old girl and I'd love to find one for her. The new one by Funrise is crummy in comparison to the original. I'm so excited to have found out what this toy is so now I can try to get one! If you know of one for sale, my email is eden1978@hotmail.com.

My niece is 7 and I want her to experience the same tub magic that I did for many years! I would pay great money if anyone knows where I can get one? My email is blakereynolds@Mac.com please help an uncle and mother make a little girls dream come true! Thanks

I have also been looking for Tubtown for my grand daughter. It was my 3 children's favourite toy. It's too bad it wasn't made with Fisher Price quality, or it would still be around today. I actually remember throwing it out, after it broke...

I loved Tub Town too!! I've thought of it a number of times over the past few years but couldn't remember many details. A few minutes ago I googled "bath tub toys of the 80s" and found an image and was ecstatic! It's all coming back to me now! And now I totally want one to play with in the bath tub even though I am 31.

OMG, I was looking at an old picture of me and saw the box in the background of Tubtown, so naturally I looked it up immediately. Found this and did look it up on youtube (thanks Suzy), but apparently it is hard to find and/or pricey. I know mine was thrown out b/c it got icky with mildew or something. :(

Does anyone know of a slightly different version of Tub Town? Maybe it wasn't even the same brand, but I had a version that hooked to the side of the bathtub, it came with four similar but slightly different-looking figures, and it was a less intricate seaside village scene (i.e. no water wheel or elevator). Does anyone know what I'm talking about? I still have the figures at my parents' house, but I really wish they had saved the village, too!

I found some Tub Towns at Garage sales over the past 2 years and will be listing them on Ebay The First week of December 2013. They will be listed on the first Sunday of December at 12:30pm EST and run a full week. I bought 4 or 5 all in different condition and some complete and others not. I am of course keeping one for myself because I have been on a special mission to obtain as many as possible since I began my search 4 years ago! This toy was such a special part of my childhood and can relate with a lot of the folks on here looking for one. I will not begin my listing with some astronomical amount and a buy it now for $350 like I see from time to time on Ebay. The bidding will begin at $25 and I will provide full descriptions and pictures of the items so you know what you are getting. Good Luck everybody and hope you get a great Christmas gift for someone special this year. My Ebay Name is MVK7676. Take care.

Hello Tub Town Fans. Great to read your comments. I was the inventor/designer of the original Tub Town. I sold the original concept off a simple rendering (still have) and then built the original foam model for Lakeside. All of my 4 kids have one that they now use for bathtime with our 6 grand-kids.Sure wish I could reproduce the original for those of you wanting one for your kids or grand Peter peterpook@bell.net
