THE #1 REASON ANYONE SHOULD LOVE THE 80'S IS OF COURSE...THE MUSIC !! I KNOW EVERY SONG FROM THAT DECADE INCLUDING THOSE ONE HIT WONDERS. I MEAN WHO CAN FORGET SONGS LIKE..PUTTIN ON THE RITZ BY TACO? OR FALCO? MURRAY HEAD? THEY ALL HAD GREAT ONE HIT WONDERS. OF COURSE MY LOVE WAS RICK SPRINGFIELD AND TO THIS DAY I GOTO HIS SMALL CONCERTS. THEY WILL NEVER BE ABLE TO CAPTURE THE AWSOMENESS ( IS THAT A WORD? ) OF THE MUSIC THAT CAME OUT IN THE 80'S. I MEAN COME ON NOW..WE ALL LOVED DURAN DURAN TO DEATH !!! THE #2 REASON IS OF COURSE THE FADS. MAINLY THE CLOTHING. I WAS A PUNKER OF SORTS AND I LOVED THE WAY I DRESSED. I LOVED THE LOOK AND I WAS VERY COMFORTABLE. YES I HAD A MOEHAWK BUT I LOVED IT. I LOVED WEARING COMBAT BOOTS OR JUST PLAIN ALL WHITE OR ALL BLACK WITH THAT EVER FAMOUS BROACH ON MY SHIRT. THE TV SHOWS WERE THE BOMB TOO. A-TEAM AND BATTLESTAR GALACTICA. HEY HOW ABOUT JOHNNY SOCO AND GIANT ROBOT??? ULTRAMAN? THOSE YOU WOULD REMEMBER IF YOU WERE YOUNGER IN THE EARLY 80'S. SIMON AND SIMON WAS GREAT TOO. I LOVED ALL THE SHOWS. NOW I WATCH DUKES OF HAZZARD ON TV LAND AND I LAUGH SO HARD THINKING WOW THAT USED TO BE MY FAVORITE SHOW IN THE WORLD. ON CHANNEL 2 THEY WOULD SAY...ITS 9 OCLOCK DO YOU KNOW WHERE YOUR CHILDREN ARE? REMEMBER THEN THE TV MOVIE " THE DAY AFTER" CAME OUT? ALL THE WARNINGS CUZ IT WAS ABOUT NUCLEAR WAR. MY MOM LET ME WATCH THAT BUT IT SURE DID CAUSE A LOT OF COMOTION. WOW JUST SO MANY COOL THINGS THAT I LOVE ABOUT THE 80'S THAT I COULD GO ON FOREVER AND THIS WOULD NEVER BE PUT UP ON THE SITE LOL THIS IS A GREAT SITE IM SO GLAD I FOUND IT. LISA

I'm not from the eighties but I wish I was. I'm slightly obsessed to be honest, the clothes, the music and the movies of the eighties are why I love it so much! Molly Ringwald, Judd Nelson, and Rob Lowe are my idols and I would give anything to have been around when the Breakfast Club was first released! I've given up on finding many of the iconic eighties fashion items so I'm making them myself on my rikety old sewing machine. I've cut the shoulder off of most of my tops (Flashdance) and am sitting here listening to a Cyndi Lauper tape. Bring back the eighties!

The movies were actually FUN and had great soundtracks. Clothes were FUN, exotic cars were in every movie, the music was FUN and catchy. I was born in 1979 but remember the 80s quite vividly. Hours upon hours in front of MTV, when it was good. The toys were awesome..GI Joes, Transformers, MASK, Lite-Brite, even the girlie stuff was memorable. Garbage Pail Kids, synthesizers, I would give anything to do it all over again :)

This Eddie Money song says it all... I Wanna Go Back I was listening to the radio I heard a song Reminded me of long ago Back then I thought that things Were never gonna change It used to be that I never Had to feel the pain I know that things will Never be the same now I wanna go back And do it all over But I can`t go back, I know I wanna go back cause I`m feeling so much older But I can`t go back, I know I recall hanging out on Friday night The first slow dance Hoping that I`ll get it right Back then I thought I`d Never, ever stand alone It used to be that a lonely heart was never shown I know that things will never be the same No, no I wanna go back (go back) And do it all over But I can`t go back, I know I wanna go back (go back) Cause I`m feeling so much older But I can`t go back, I know You can`t go back I can`t go back

Gee, I miss the 80s so much which I can't help but flashing back to the great memories I had. The 80s was a child of the 70s, in every way , in culture, and arts. Welcome to the age where recalling back most of the new wave era. It's nice to rekindle seeing myself how I looked in the 80s. I was in Baston jeans, wearing colored shirts , the hair being polished with spray net and gels. The 80s were the generation where we could speak out loud freely... through music, fashion, movies and TV shows. That was also the time where the envasion of British to the music world industry, leading the fad of new wave and punk style. Everytime I hear music from the 80s that is being played on the radio, it brings me back in time. Flashing back the good times which I shared with the world. A generation, I cannot compare, something that you cannot forget but rewinding the past. If I could just turn back time, I certainly want to be in the late 70s going into the 80s.

'77 baby here. I sure remember the 1980s pretty well. Despite the nuclear scare and quality of products starting to go down (too much stuff made in Taiwan and even American products were cheapened up), the 80s were way better than today. The movies, early-mid 80s TV shows, toys, hair style, etc etc were way cool. The A Team, MASH (70s), Dukes of Hazzard, Highway to Heaven, Knight Rider, Transformers, ET, Back to the Future, Charlie's Angels (70s tho), Diff'rent Strokes, Transformers, He Man, She RA, Scooby Doo, Tom and Jerry, Batman, and lots more. Toys include 70s carryovers into the early 80s, then the mainstream 80s toys like Transformers, He Man and She Ra, and lots more. The Atari and 8 bit Nintendo were cool too. Not too much dependence on computers either. What do I need to say about the 90s? Man I hated that decade. Bland and boring. Never liked the grunge scene, baggy pants, etc. I was just doing my own thing as a teen then. Now I'm just stuck in time, living in the 80s and earlier decades. Ahh those were simplier times. I now collect lots of old stuff from then! 90s or later? Nah I don't need them!

I can't believe I stumbled across this web site. You people are really stuck in the past... and I love you for it! Those were the best days of my life. Back when you wanted to watch cartoons you mostly had to wait for Saturday... 3 channels people! The slight depression at noon because cartoons were over for that weekend, but then there was American Bandstand and Soul Train. After that you knew your weekend was quickly ending. ABC After School Specials, I used to love them! I remember my first kiss, my first love, whom I'm now married to, great family memories and friends! As with every decade, things change. The world turns to the horizon of a new decade. And now I'm becoming one of those depressed viva people of the eighties.

The 80s..... like a wonderful dream of wonderful memories.. I can just say, beside what've been said above... the ballads... where is that music today where you can just dream away to a better time?? The 80s are a very fond memory for me, born in 1977 I remember growing up in this wild decade, I remember foremost the music and the movies, they where totally awsome, never again to be made... sob sob... we'll meet again.. somewhere... sometime...

Like for sure! I'm so freakin' glad to have found this site!! Well, being born in '70 I was lucky enough to have been a teenager from the begining of 80s so I was there when all the cool stuff happened from the start. I love the 80's and have an affectionado for the 70s but 80s is where my heart is at. So many people hit on so many things that stand true as far as fashion and style (we created our OWN styles hence "that's so 80s"), music and so forth....the 80s were about evolution, pushing the envelope in every direction, encouraging our rebellious nature as teens and young people. Boundaries were pushed to the limits and beyond in the 80's to see how different different could be----if you didn't push boundaries and find the rebel within yourself then what the hell were you doing in the 80's? Living in the 80s as a teen and young person was like living out a non-stop frat party. Guys who had long hair and wore make up was considered SEXY! (provided he played in a rock band)and Rock was freakin' Rock...alternative was something alternative not a played down rock music....heavy metal was on top of the game and Lars (Metallica) wasn't such a freakin' ass back then. Underground music and the L.A music scene flourished and reigned the airwaves right along side the pop, alternative and new wave. Wow...the movies, the television shows, CARTOONS as everyone points out...the clothes..daring is all I can say. Many had it right that you could wear what you want and the more different you dared yourself to be the less odd you looked. Hair, heavy, long, short and spiky with rubber cement...different colors....didn't matter. You could get the worst hair cut of your life and play it off as though you MEANT to do that and look cool. The 90s rolled around and just sucked ass. They didn't do anything except talk about what every 'other' decade did. The creative juices seemed to stop flowing by then and nothing 'original' came from that decade----and music? Aside from Nirvana and NIN, what happened? Sure we have some good music but nothing compared to the 80's. From the "new skinny jeans" which we just called 'straight legged' in the 80s to the sticking up collars and remakes of old songs and so forth.....the 80s will live forever as the best decade ever.

I feel I've really missed out being born in 1991. I have a serious 80s fetish and wish I could go back 25 years. The 21st centuary is OK, but lacks the culture and kick a** music.
From: Andy

Elyriah summed it up for me. I know we should be living in the moment and trying to create new and exciting fun things for now and the future, but I just can't help looking back. It was a great time. Yeah, there were some sucky times, but in general it was a blast. I'm glad I could be a part of it. Does anyone remember half shirts (guys wearing them)?
From: Lucas Scalzo

I love the 80s so much! I was born in 1991, so I REALLY missed out! I am obsessed with the music (U2, Dire Straits, Tears For Fears, Neil Young, Kate Bush, YAZ, etc.) and it's basically all I listen to. The TV shows were AMAZING (THE GOLDEN GIRLS, Whos's The Boss?, Twilight Zone (80s one), Growing Pains, etc.). I would give anything to be warped back to the 80s!
From: Brad J.

I was born after the 80s ended, but I have come to love the music, fashion, video games, TV, and other stuff of the 80s. The 2000s suck! I often listen to 80s music. I have a collection of NES games, which I love. I also love the old TV shows, Like "He-Man", "Family Ties" and "The A-Team". I am starting to collect 80s things and I am buying old vinyl records and cassette tapes. Long live the 80s!
From: Matthew

The 80s had the best band ever: DURAN DURAN !!! I have been and always will be a die-hard Duranie!!! The 80s were the best decade ever!!! The 90s, unfortunately, ushered in the era of grunge, which was the polar opposite of the 80s and punk. When punk music "re-emerged" recently, I knew it wasn't really punk that we all came to love and grew up with. 80s punk music can never be imitated, no matter how hard the stupid record companies want to make a profit from it. Fashion, music, hairstyle, looks, clothes, etc... Need I go any further? THE 80s WERE THE BEST DECADE IN THE HISTORY OF MANKIND!!!!!! ANYONE WHO SAYS OTHERWISE IS A LITTLE B*** !!!!!
From: taurus

I was born in 1968, so when 1980 rolled around, I was just getting old enough to experience all the 80s had to offer. My favorite 80s years are from 82-84. The music of the early 80s was the best. Journey, Kansas, Triumph, and Earth Wind & Fire. School dances with girls that looked and acted feminine. Jordache jeans and a french cut t-shirt for her, Levi's and a Members Only jacket for him. Dancing the night away to Toto. The movies were better in the 80s. E.T. was the best.
From: Juan

I loved the 80s because we had video games, MTV(when it actually played music videos), and cool music. I also loved the fashion in the 80s, and the movies too. Breakfast Club and Pretty In Pink were the best. I still wish we were in the 80s, it just seemed like a more innocent and carefree time than now.

I was born in 1976 so remember the eighties like yesterday. The music, the films, and the cars was all perfect! Life was just great - what happened? The early 1990s were OK. 2000 onwards were awful. I wish like most on here that I could go back to the 1980s and wish it would never end. Anybody who would like to email me tech2120@tiscali.co.uk "1980's GOOD TIMES":@)

To me the 80s time-wise feels more like home to me, I absolutely hate the current-decade, well at least certain things about it, that's why I hope the next decade is a lot more like the 1980s {That's right the 2010's} enough of this digital current-decade crap everyone seems to like now. I was myself born in 1987. It's just the 80s - I loved the long, curly, thick puffy hairstyles that existed then. I also loved the army-themed & action movies back then. Because they just showed you didn't have to be a low-tech setting to have a warm-feel.

Britney Spears, Justin Timberlake, Nick Carter, and Christina Aguilera were all born in the early 1980s.
