Description
McDonald's answer to a burger with everything. The burger came separated into the cold side (lettuce, tomato & sauce) and the hot side (the meat). This was before they eliminated the use of Styrofoam.

Probably the best sandwich McD's ever made -- including the Big Mac. If it weren't for the ozone layer, perhaps we'd still be keeping the hot side hot and the cool side cool...

THIS WAS MY FAVORITE BURGER OF ALL TIME AT MC DONALDS. I REMEMBER THE FRESH COLD CRISP TASTE OF THE VEGETABLES AND THE HOT BEEF PATTY...MMM...THE GOOD OLD DAYS. WISHED IT WAS STILL HERE I WOULD FREQUENT MC D'S MORE OFTEN.

I agree with Jim and Marty -- the McDLT was very tasty. Very similar to what my grandma would cook at home, and the cold vs/ hot thing really was awesome.

I will forever, I think, have the commercial song in my head. My dad "taped" rudolph the red nosed reindeer on our vcr (with a remote that had a cord - at least it was vhs and not beta) and he left the commercials on the tape, so every christmas, we would watch rudolph and hear the old commercials. Still have it - "Get a quarter pound of beef on the hot hot side - and the hot, stays hot - McD! Crisp lettuce and tomato on the cool cool side - and the cool, stays cool - LT!"

What a great fast food burger. I was fortunate enough make McDonalds band in 1985 and snarfed many a McDLT on our trips. In its era, most fast food burgers sat under a hot lamp waiting for a customer, while the lettuce got wilted and the tomatoes melted. The mustard, catsup and mayo soaked into the bun and the final combination was a soggy, dreadful mess. The McDLT was a remarkably crisp alternative and was a blast to eat.

This was my favourite staple of going to McDonald's until some environmentally consious kill joys had to ruin it by telling everybody that toxins from the styrofoam packages could leech into the food. Sheesh just when you can have fun putting your own burger together and some spoilsport has to go and ruin it for everybody.

I used to love the MCDLT, but I always thought it would be better to put the cheese on the hot side so it would be nice and melty. I requested it this way at my local McDonalds and they refused to make it. The General Manager said McD's corporate wouldn't allow them to alter the way the sandwich was made at it. That was a bummer, and I told them that Burger King would let me have it my way. Oh well, that same McDonalds will now make my new fave which is a double Quarter Pounder dressed like a Big Mac. Now that's a good burger!

I would get one of these every Wednesday between dance class and church choir practice. It was such a novelty to have the two-sided container and put the sandwich together myself. I remember Jason Alexander did the commercial in a Miami-Vice white blazer, pre-Seinfeld and hair loss, of course!

You'd think they could bring it back with less or more eco-friendly packaging. This sandwich was truly the best. My second favorite was Burger King Burger Buddies!

The McDLT WAS THE BEST. I WONDER WHY MCDONALDS CAN'T MAKE A 2 SIDED CARDBOARD BOX FOR THE DLT?? WOULDN'T THAT WORK???

BEST sandwich Mcdonald's ever made. Especially nice with extra mayo. Mind you, this was back when people were free to eat what they wanted, not worry about the government or some lawyer whining about fat content.

People say that the Big N Tasty was formerly know as the MCDLT back in 1985.

This is the only burger I would order when it came out. Something about the sandwich's contrasting heat, packaging, and marketing, sold me hard. Was saddened when it bit the dust.

I loved the Mcdlt. Was wondering why they got rid of it. but i see it's because of the styrofoam. but now they have recyclable styro. can't they bring it back? Or put it in cardboard like the big mac. I remember the Mcrefrigerator side for the cold and the Mchot side for the patty.

The closest Mickey Deez ever came to representing the yin and the yang of the cosmos in a single packaged burger. Obama '08!!!
